About Me

I'm the average outdoor-crazy German: I've hiked 10 countries and hitchhiked a few of them aswell, I spent a year in New Zealand (2014-2015), fell in love with the country and the culture and came back for more last NZ-summer, I am a scout for ten years now, and have my own group since 2015(we are not connected to any political or religious group). When I'm not outside, I like to spend time creating all kinds of (small) wooden and metal-made things in my "workshop". I used to play the trombone, drums and tuba, but am now stuck with the guitar. Partly, because I need it for my life as a scout, and partly, because it's more of an every day instrument.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

More than a few people told me that couchsufing and hitchhiking go along perfectly. And as I like hitchhiking quite well to meet nice people, for being available 24/7 and for its flexibility (and to get from A to B cheap), I thought, I might just try this.
Other than that, I'm always on the lookout for new places to go, so people, who are hosting or surfing themselves are probably a good source of stories, comments and experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music genres I like the most are currently: Minimal electro (e.g. seven days by umami), Hardstyle (e.g. our church by headhunterz), cloud/mumble rap (LGoony/ money boy etc.). I also enjoy some classical music from time to time, especially Vivaldis seasons and the a-minor piano concerto by Grieg.

The Sting, For a fistful of dollars and for a few dollars more, The railway man and The Twelve Tasks of Asterix are movies I already watched a few times, and I would watch again.

Favorite books: The Mists of Avalon, Level 26, Eragon, Mistborn,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

On a hiking trip in New Zealand, I wanted to get to the "Roaring Lion Hut", just because it's really remote, and a friend of mine recommended it. There are (generally speakig) two ways to get there: If you have the money, go there by helicopter. If you want the adventure take the river. By foot. There is no track leading to the hut, and you can't cayak the river, so you have to actually walk down the river for 8km. I took the river. I don't know the time it took, and at the end of the day I was completely done. The problem was I had to go back up again the next day to continue my hike to the west coast. In hindsight, some of the situations were probably a bit risky (especially that one time the water was up to my shoulders...), but I did it, and I'm happy about that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some card tricks, or cool knots. Maybe some basic phisics, if you're interested ;-)y
I'd like to learn how to cook your most typical local food(if that's not too dificult) or how to cast magic spells.
I can share some good stories and chocolate or coffee.
