About Me

Getting back into couchsurfing after a 4-year break. I feel a need for more adventures and weirdos in my life after settling down with a job and a girl I love.

I hitchhike a good deal and my favourite thing when travelling is meeting up with people and doing roughly the same things we would at home. Sharing a drink with friends, enjoying hobbies and trying new things.

Couchsurfing was very formative in turning me into the polite and open-hearted man I am today, but of course there is always more to learn.

(I try to keep the "my home" section updated, currently just missing some pictures. If you're staying with me, read it)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To be part of a great community where we can help one another to lead more interesting lives.

Looking back on this I think it's working out pretty darn well.

Interests

I generally just try to get involved in whatever I can and it is rare that I find things to not suit me after spending a little time adjusting. Having time to commit fully to things is harder, but I try to make use of my time as well as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've been kind of on a soul bend lately though, hearing people singing about being nice and lovely is just really nice and lovely. I'd also love to hear and share more folk music, I like the togetherness in supremely beltable songs.

I really like Dostoyevsky. As in REALLY. If you like Dostoyevsky, it requires multiple crimes against humanity before I can start unliking you. (Is also true for a few other authors, I'm glad so few of my friends abuse human rights)

For movies I'm still exploring. I've seen a number and especially love how much of the experience can be shared. Tarkovsky doesn't make sense to me, but I like the obsessiveness. "The Florida Project" and "The Big Lebowski" were riveting and finally, "Gandhi" and "Metropolis" implanted some values in me that I can't seem to shake.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I would love to just put the lump sum of benign human interaction I have had. But my best story is probably the time I was rated an extreme threat to safety by Isreali airport security for being such a forgetful boyfriend.

Teach, Learn, Share

White sugar is fine if you're making fudge. Demererra is just if you are feeling fancy.

If you put a piece of toilet paper into the toilet before you poop, you can avoid splashes.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I usually find something to talk about, and those conversations usually come out very good. However, I am also capable of shutting up when the situation calls for it.

In that case, I could also easily do some laundry/dishes/uprooting weeds. If you are sharing your house with me, easing your burden of owning a house is the least I can do.

I study how our world works, specializing in light. So if you need to know why the sky is blue or how the world might end, I'd also love to teach what physics, chemistry and mathematics I know.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Germany, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Palestine, Peru, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United States, Uzbekistan
