About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make music

ABOUT ME

I am a musician who loves recording and playing and teaching music. I'm an Ableton Live user. I've lived in Bushwick, Brooklyn since 2006. My boyfriend Jason is an audio engineer who can fix anything. We usually travel together.

PHILOSOPHY

(1) Never let feelings get in the way of facts.
(2) You are the expert of your own life.
(3) There's only so much you can do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As soon as we finish moving, we'll be able to offer a couch. In the meantime, I'm looking to couch surf in Toronto-- we've heard wonderful things about it.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted people on my couch since I started having my own apartment. Be careful about inviting bands over. Once I wound up hosting six people for almost two weeks in my tiny NYC apartment because their other house fell through. Oh well :)

Interests

music, music technologies, emerging green technologies, the new and interesting ways that people are getting together to solve their own problems. i also like camping (not survivalist camping, just hanging out outside) and drinking beers and eating good food and laughing with my friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

In my early 20s I read a bunch of Joseph Campbell and Carl Sagan and Barbara Ehrenreich. I don't read that much anymore except for firedoglake and glenn greenwald. i listen to a lot of my friends' music and i like merrill garbus a lot. jason and i always watch all the free movies on retrovision.tv. they have a great collection of old film noir. according to netflix, we also like "quirky foreign comedies," "action and adventure from the 1970s" and "critically-acclaimed biographical documentaries."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

played a halloween show at CBGB's in a shock-punk band. i played bass. oh, youth. CBGB's was well past its prime, though, at that point-- I think it was 2003?

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach a little ableton live-- or the basics of beat-making. i know the basic knit stitch and I can crochet. Oh, yeah, I can teach you some chords on the guitar, or on the piano.
