About Me

ā€Œ
Welcome to my profile!

I'm Arsalan ( ĖˆÉ‘Ėr.sə.lɑːn ) , born in 2003 in Iran. I grew up near Kashan and moved to the city on my own at the age of 11. It’s been home ever since.

My interests have always been rooted in Iranian history and the English language. During university, I realized that the academic path in Iran didn’t fit the life I wanted—so I chose to leave and follow my passion for travel and cultural exploration. Since military service is required in Iran, I completed it to be able to get my passport. Now I’m ready to hit the road and begin my global journey.

One of the main reasons I love traveling is because I believe real human connections can help break stereotypes. Through my journey and who I am, I try to show people what Iranians are truly like—kind, curious, and far from the image media sometimes portrays. I don’t aim to prove anything, but simply to let others see a more personal, honest side of my culture.

Kashan isn’t just where I live—it’s part of who I am. As one of the world’s oldest cities, with over 8,000 years of history, it has endless stories, and I love sharing them.

I really enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds. No matter where I am, I’m always open to deep, meaningful conversations about culture, history, and life. Curiosity and respect guide the way I connect with others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A question has always stayed with me: If there's a God, why was I created? What’s the purpose of my existence?
Why am I here—on this planet, for such a short time—and how should I spend it?

I haven't found the answer yet. But I believe that by traveling the world, facing its challenges, and meeting people from all walks of life, I might get closer to it.

Couchsurfing feels like a bridge in that journey—connecting souls, stories, and ideas in ways no travel agency or government ever could. For that, I’m grateful.

Interests

I enjoy connecting with people who share similar goals and philosophies. Traveling is my way of exploring different cultures and lifestyles around the world, and it’s something I’m passionate about.

In my free time, you’ll often find me indulging in hobbies like playing the guitar, reading, having interesting conversations, playing backgammon, hiking, or simply enjoying an adventure in the woods or camping. It’s these little moments that truly enrich my life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In my hometown in Iran, there’s a stunning salt cave that’s over 70 million years old — one of the longest in the world, stretching 14 kilometers. Although the government has restricted access beyond the first 1,200 meters, I had visited the cave several times with CS friends and always respected the limit.

But one day, I decided to push past my fear — and the fence. I kept walking deep into the cave, alone, through narrow, dangerous paths. Eventually, I reached a steep valley and turned back. That journey felt surreal, like stepping into a time machine and landing millions of years in the past. For a moment, I truly felt like the only human on Earth. šŸ˜…

You can see some photos of that cave on my CS profile.

What I Can Share with Hosts

You might think I’m an inexperienced young man, but I’ve faced many challenges in life and will continue to do so. Over the years, I’ve met many experienced people and learned a lot from them. I also know a lot about my hometown, which has over 8,000 years of history. I can talk for hours with my hosts about history, politics, and my experiences.

If my host has a guitar, I’d be happy to play for them, or I can enjoy a game of backgammon. If they’re into deep discussions on philosophy, politics, history, or religion, I’d love to have an insightful conversation.

If my host prefers, I can take a walk, explore nice places, or do anything that creates happy moments. I’m flexible and always respect my host’s preferences and boundaries.
