What I Can Share with Hosts
Good times, good music and good food! (I 've been told I'm a pretty decent cook), biking around the city, sports massage, yoga and exercise tutoring.
About the food, I will be happy to share whatever I'm cooking with you, but don't expect me to provide you with meals, you are expected to contribute too by either cooking or putting something in the fridge (or both).
I am not one of those hosts that make you leave when I leave or wait for my arrival to enter my apartment. You can come and go as you wish, but that free access is the reason why I need references, so if you don't have any I am very likely to say no to your request.
As you can see in my groups and activities, I AM A NUDIST. While I do not push this lifestyle into my guests, you are likely to see me walking naked around the apartment at certain times of the day. It's not sexual, it's just part of my routine and the way I feel comfortable at home. PLEASE DO NOT THINK OF ME AS A POSSIBLE HOST UNLESS YOU ARE SURE YOU'RE OK WITH IT. IF SEEING A NAKED GUY IN FRONT OF YOU FREAKS YOU OUT, OR IF YOU ARE PARANOID FOR WHATEVER REASON ABOUT OTHERS SEEING YOU NAKED, THIS APARTMENT IS NOT THE RIGHT FIT FOR YOU. ON THE OTHER HAND, BEING THE ONLY ONE NAKED AT HOME WITH OTHER PEOPLE AROUND ME CAN FEEL AWKWARD, SO YOU ARE WELCOME TO TAKE YOUR CLOTHES OFF WHENEVER YOU FEEL LIKE IT (You can be naked in any area of the apartment except at the terrace, I have neighbors! haha).
One last note: I am a homely guy with very regular habits, especially on workdays. If you are a party animal and/or heavy drinker and/or drug user and cannot or will not go to bed before midnight, my home is not the right fit for you. Same can be said if you do not or will not put on your earphones to use your cellphone or laptop. IT SHOULD GO WITHOUT SAYING THAT YOU JUST DON'T MAKE NOISE IN ANOTHER PERSON'S HOME, BUT FOR SOME GUESTS IT'S APPARENTLY NOT THAT OBVIOUS. Don't expect your host to change their routine for you, respect theirs.
Also, my intention as a member of Couchsurfing is making friends and having cultural exchange with travelers, IF YOU ARE IN TROUBLE AND USING COUCHSURFING TO FIND A PLACE TO SLEEP FREE OF CHARGE AS YOU FIND A HOME OR SOLVE YOUR SITUATION, PLEASE LOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE. I AM NOT YOUR SOLUTION, I AM DOING THIS FOR FUN. I AM NOT INTERESTED IN HAVING COUCHSURFERS STAY FOR INDEFINITE TIME. BE HONEST ABOUT YOUR INTENTIONS, I WANT TO MEET TRAVELERS, NOT IMMIGRANTS. I AM AN IMMIGRANT MYSELF, HAD ENOUGH OF THAT ALREADY. HOPE THIS IS CLEAR ENOUGH.
AND PLEASE REMEMBER, COUCHSURFING IS NOT AIRBNB, BE AWARE THAT SOME OF THE ROUTINES/ HABITS OF YOUR DAILY LIFE ARE OFTEN NOT POSSIBLE IN ANOTHER PERSON'S HOME. IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE THAT, MAYBE COUCHSURFING IS NOT FOR YOU AT ALL. AND BE KIND ENOUGH TO GET TO KNOW YOUR HOST. THIS IS ABOUT MEETING PEOPLE AND EXCHANGING EXPERIENCES, DON'T BEHAVE LIKE YOU ARE IN A HOTEL. Sorry if this sounds mean, but every addition to my profile comes from experience.
By the way, I have found that I need to include some recommendations for beginner guests.
Some of them may seem fairly obvious, but after so many guests in my house, I am starting to wonder if they really are:
-Don't make noise in another person's house. If you want to play music or listen to anything on your computer, use your headphones. Hosts usually want to be the only people who make noise in their own home, and they are very careful not to disturb their guests, so they expect the same courtesy from you.
-Don't leave garbage in your room or around the place where you are sleeping, especially food garbage.
-If you are sleeping in a separate room, don't leave the door closed when you go out. Remember it's not your room, it's a room in somebody else's house.
-And of course, keep that room tidy. Maybe you are used to leaving a mess in your own room but, once again, IT'S NOT YOUR ROOM.
-If you come back late, be quiet. It's not nice to wake up your host, especially on working days. Of course, don't rummage around the kitchen if everybody is sleeping.
-Leave the bathroom dry and clean after you shower.
-Flush the toilet!!!
-Don't open food packages or containers unless you are expressly allowed to.
-Don't keep in your room the food you are planning to eat during your stay, looks like you don't want to share it with your host, namely the person who is sharing everything with you.
-Replace everything you eat from your host's kitchen.
-If you see something is running out, like food or toiletries, don't wait for your host to tell you to buy it, do it on your own initiative.
-It's a good idea to treat your host for food or a coffee, especially if they're not expecting it. Just basic courtesy.
-Be careful to spend some quality time with your host. He's not a hotel clerk.
(Please, write the words CLEAR ENOUGH in your request so I know you read my profile).
