Overview
About Me
Hey, I’m Artem — a filmmaker, creative producer, and former soldier from Ukraine 🇺🇦
Currently drifting through Europe with a camera, some memories, and a heart full of stories.
Try to based in Berlin for now — but my soul’s somewhere between Kyiv rooftops, late-night editing sessions, and spontaneous dancefloors.
Life for me is a weird but beautiful mix of survival and meaning, intimacy and distance, chaos and poetry. I love capturing people in motion, conversations at 3AM, and anything that feels real. I’m LGBTQ+ friendly 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ — fully supportive, always respectful, and deeply value safe, open-hearted spaces for everyone.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Sometimes, I need a place to sleep.
But mostly, I’m here for people.
I’m rebuilding my life in a new city, looking for:
– a roof
– a human connection
– a warm kitchen
– or just a moment of kindness
If you’re open to hosting me — even just for a night or two — I’m endlessly grateful. I’m quiet, respectful, helpful, and always curious.

• The Act of Killing
• Melancholia
• In the Mood for Love
• Atlantique

• EO (Jerzy Skolimowski)
Books I Keep Coming Back To:
• Catch-22 by Joseph Heller — absurd, hilarious, painfully accurate
• The Stranger by Albert Camus — existential dread in the sun
• Sarajevo for Beginners by Ozren Kebo — war, survival, and irony on every page
• Easy Riders, Raging Bulls by Peter Biskind — the wild truth of New Hollywood
• History of Violence by Édouard Louis — intimate, raw, terrifyingly close
• On the Road by Jack Kerouac — not for the plot, but for the drift
• Howl by Allen Ginsberg — because rage can be lyrical too
• Night Sky With Exit Wounds by Ocean Vuong — every line feels like a scar and a kiss
• Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke — yeah, I’m that guy
• My own journals — full of drafts, dreams, field notes, and unreleased monologues
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I wrote and directed Fiat Nox! — an experimental short film exploring memory, intimacy, and the traces war leaves on the body. It started as a personal visual diary and became a poetic, cinematic piece selected by multiple international festivals.
Another proud moment: I was a finalist in Film.UA’s Roar — a major Ukrainian series pitching competition — with a project that’s been described as “Ukrainian Euphoria.”
It’s a raw, vivid story about teens growing up in the shadow of war, violence, and emotional collapse — yet still reaching for connection, rebellion, and meaning.
Both projects came from places of urgency, vulnerability, and a hunger to turn pain into something honest.
Teach, Learn, Share
• Direct short films, music videos, experimental stuff (some vids hit 1M+ views)
• Worked with brands like UNICEF, KFC, USAID, McDonald’s — and made it emotional
• Currently filming a deeply personal short about war, memory, love and the body
• I write, shoot, edit, produce — and thrive on meaningful collaboration
I’m somewhere between arthouse and DIY-documentary-vibes. Always looking for stories that move people — even quietly. I'm also trying to learn French 🇫🇷
What I Can Share with Hosts
• I can shoot/edit content for you (photo/video/socials)
• Cook weird but cozy food and coffee 👨🍳🥘☕
• Storytelling, brainstorming, cleaning, fixing stuff
• Turn your cat into an indie film protagonist
• Make your dreams sound like a short film pitch 🎞️
Also: always happy to share stories — from film sets, army life, love letters, or things I wish I had filmed.
