About Me

So far, I haven't used couchsurfing a lot and would like to change that.
To me, it is always a very special experience to meet locals - for example when I travelled along the Nhile river.

Last time I was in Israel, I was invited to a Shabbat-dinner close to Tel Aviv which was a very different way of arriving in a country.

I am really great in finding hidden gems - also abroad. Now and then I am able to offer some free concert tickets (classical).
Otherwise I love old music, Pop, Jazz, World music... & unusual places.
To look at architecture is one of my favourite sports.

background:
Grew up at lake Constance (Austrian-Swiss-German border). Studied (contemporary & visual) history and having been living in Vienna and in Brighton and London during 90s.
Currently based in Vienna

Museums are my places to be...usually but I am also open to alternatives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I m interested in getting to know people and their life stories.
It would be great to always meet someone local to be taken to some non-touristic, unusual places.

That's what I love to do as well as to share interesting information.

Interests

always visiting as many museums as possible

Love InstaWalks
culture, history, museums ...
theatre, old music

It is always a pleasure to meet someone of the worldwide nvc community and to share the experience of this kind of this communication with friends or whoever is interested.

Music, Movies, and Books

old / baroque music, Jazz, ...
30s films (screwball comedy ...)

anything to do with history / culture - "trash literature" - crime novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

More than one:

Walking through the dessert in Israel (2018) and ending up at an underground techno party.

Summer at the Baltic Sea (rainy 17 °C)
Almost all Gdansk' museums have got towers. (2015)

Meeting couch-surfers while Nhile-cruising (2017):
Several nice guys got up especially for us
to take us around
- Assuan: very special to me was to share a sailing boat with locals to get on the other side of the Nhile.
- Luxor: honoured to having dinner with a three generations family in the valey of the kings/queens and being taken to some tombs of nobles (non-touristic!)

Recently:
Some culture trips in Crete (2018) and Cyprus (2019).
Would love to go on a hiking trip in Cyprus.

Teach, Learn, Share

Providing #access2culture and enabling #access2knowledge are most important to me. Usually I ve got tons of useful information and like to share that.
So if you come to Vienna I could surely give you some cultural tipps etc. ...

Now and then I ve got free tickets to concerts which I usually offer neighborhood centers, refugees, friends, collegues, people I just meet - might be you...

What I Can Share with Hosts

interesting talks, unusual ideas, empathy based communication

I always appreciate something local which is not available anywhere else. So I would take some "Mozartkugeln" with me - maybe sthg else.

Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
