About Me
Hi 👋 I’m Artun from İzmir.
I’m a traveler at heart. I’ve always felt more alive on the road than anywhere else. I love discovering new places, meeting people from different cultures, and seeing how differently life can be lived around the world. For me, traveling is not just about visiting places, but about connection — with people, stories, and experiences.
Between 2023 and 2025, I traveled through Kazakhstan, Georgia, Nepal, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand by hitchhiking. During this time, I supported myself by making and selling handmade bracelets on the road. It was a very free and meaningful experience — a period where I connected directly with people and felt a simpler, more real side of life.
I would describe myself as easygoing, respectful, and open-minded. I adapt easily to different environments and I’m comfortable both with social moments and quiet time. I can enjoy deep conversations for hours, or just share a simple moment like drinking coffee and watching the sunset.
I have a curious and analytical mind. I like understanding people — their behavior, psychology, cultural background, and how life shaped them. Conversations about life, meaning, culture, and different perspectives always interest me. At the same time, I also have a playful side; I enjoy humor, spontaneous plans, and simple fun.
I value independence, but also meaningful connections. I’m not the type of person who just “passes by” — I like to create real moments with people, even if it’s for a short time.
I’m currently based in İzmir and building my life step by step, but traveling is still a big part of who I am. Whenever I get the chance, I hit the road again.
One of my biggest dreams is South America. I want to stay there for at least a year, document my journey, and share it on YouTube. Not just traveling, but really living there and creating stories from the experience.
If we meet or if you host me, you can expect respect, good energy, and genuine connection. I’d also be happy to show you around İzmir and share some local spots.
My English isn’t perfect, but I can communicate and I’m always improving 😊

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me, traveling is not just about seeing new places, but about creating real connections with people. That’s why I love Couchsurfing — it allows more meaningful and genuine experiences instead of superficial encounters.
Meeting people from different cultures, listening to their stories, and understanding their perspectives is very valuable to me. Every person has their own unique world, and being able to be part of that, even for a short time, teaches me a lot.
At the same time, I enjoy sharing my own story, experiences, and way of seeing life. Sometimes a simple conversation, a coffee together, or a small walk can turn into an unforgettable memory.
For me, Couchsurfing is about trust, sharing, learning, and connection. It’s always special for me to meet people who are brave, on the road, and open to exploring life.
Interests
I’ve been involved in social and volunteer projects since 2012, both locally and internationally. I genuinely enjoy contributing to something meaningful, meeting different kinds of people, and making even a small positive impact in someone’s life.
Travel is one of my biggest passions. I’m especially interested in slow travel — really getting to know a place, its culture, its people, and the way life flows there. I enjoy learning from different perspectives and seeing how culture shapes human behavior.
I’m deeply interested in philosophy, psychology, and human nature. I often find myself thinking about life, meaning, choices, and how our experiences shape who we are. I like conversations that go beyond small talk — real, honest, and sometimes even challenging discussions.
Music has always been part of my life. I enjoy singing, rhythm, and the emotional connection that music creates between people. I also love simple things like walking, observing daily life, and being present in the moment.
I’m curious by nature. Topics like linguistics, geography, and cultural connections really interest me — especially how language and culture reflect human history and migration.
At the same time, I also have a playful side. I enjoy humor, spontaneous moments, and not taking life too seriously all the time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was 12, I spent the whole summer in the Czech Republic on my own, attending youth camps, and it became a turning point in my life. Being outside my comfort zone at such a young age and experiencing a different country independently taught me independence, courage, and adaptability early on.
This experience laid the foundation of the traveler spirit I have today. Since then, the world has never felt like a place to fear, but a place to explore.
I have always felt a bit different, and that has pushed me to constantly improve myself. Learning new things, experiencing life, and growing as a person are very important to me. If I meet someone like-minded, I would love to explore the world together.

What I Can Share with Hosts
For me, Couchsurfing is not just about having a place to stay, but about sharing a meaningful experience. That’s why I try to be more than just a guest — I aim to contribute to the environment I’m in.
I enjoy sharing my travel experiences, observations from different cultures, and my perspective on life. I like deep conversations, but I also adapt to the energy of the moment; sometimes it’s a long talk, sometimes just a coffee together or even a quiet evening — all of these can be meaningful in their own way.
Getting to know people and experiencing local homes is an essential part of my journey. That’s why wherever I go, I don’t see myself as just a visitor, but as someone who becomes a small part of that life.
Respect, cleanliness, and harmony are very important to me. I respect personal space as much as I value my own. I’m always willing to help when needed and I do my best to adapt to the environment I’m in.
I also trust my energy — I’m positive, understanding, and adaptable. I connect easily with new people and try to leave a good feeling wherever I go.
In short, I’m not just someone who stays — I’m someone you can share a meaningful moment with.
