I'm a phd student in economics at the University of Chicago. I live in Hyde Park, which is an "island" on the South Side of Chicago.
The campus of the University is absolultely breathtaking, but there is really not much to visit outside the campus (just suburban housing and some ghetto's!).

Contact me if you want to visit Hyde Park as a kind of last stop in your day or are coming for a talk or conference. Else I'd recommend getting housing or a couch on the north side of the city as nearly anything interesting is going on there! (But they don't have a magnificent campus as Northwestern really isn't that special :)).
I generally don't have time to show you around in Chicago (nor would I really want to in the Winter), except for in the Summer.
