Overview
About Me
My name is Arvind, and I hail from the ancient and spiritual city of Varanasi, India — a place where every street echoes with history and tradition. I am passionate about traveling, meeting new people, and exploring destinations that offer not just scenic beauty, but soul-stirring stories.
For me, travel is more than just visiting places — it’s about meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and discovering the essence of diverse cultures. I love engaging with locals, learning about their customs, exchanging stories, and immersing myself in the everyday rhythm of their lives. Every journey leaves me with valuable insights, friendships, and memories that I cherish deeply.
Whether it's wandering through hidden lanes, participating in traditional festivals, or simply enjoying a meal with a local family, I believe the real magic of travel lies in human connection. Through my travels, I hope not only to explore the world but also to bring back lessons and inspiration to share with others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe that traveling isn’t just about ticking off destinations or sightseeing — it’s about truly connecting with the heart and soul of a place. Visiting a country as a tourist offers only a brief glimpse, often limited to the surface beauty and popular attractions. But when we live among the local people, share conversations, meals, and everyday experiences, we discover something far more meaningful — their values, traditions, and way of life.
That’s why I’m on Couchsurfing. It allows me to go beyond being a tourist — to build real, human connections that teach me more than any guidebook ever could. Through these interactions, I gain a deeper appreciation for different cultures, and in return, I share a piece of my own. These shared stories and experiences are what I carry back home — not just as memories, but as life lessons that stay with me forever.
Interests
Beyond travel, I enjoy photography, cooking, reading books, and watching movies that open my mind to new ideas and cultures. I’m also deeply curious by nature — I love talking to people, understanding their perspectives, and learning something new from every conversation.
Professionally, I run a travel agency based in Varanasi where we help travelers experience India beyond the typical tourist trail — with heart, heritage, and hospitality. If you're curious, feel free to check out my travel stories and work on Instagram: www.instagram.com/tripholidaysplanner
Music, Movies, and Books
I believe music, movies, and books are powerful ways to connect with different cultures, emotions, and ideas.
🎶 Music: My taste in music is beautifully diverse — from soulful Indian classical to global sounds like Sufi, folk, soft rock, and instrumental melodies. I enjoy music that tells a story or stirs emotions, whether it’s a peaceful tune during travel or something upbeat while cooking or riding.
🎬 Movies: I love watching films that go beyond entertainment — movies that make you feel, think, and see the world from a new perspective. I enjoy cultural and travel-based films, meaningful dramas, inspiring biographies, and thought-provoking international cinema. Some of my favorites include The Motorcycle Diaries, Into the Wild, Barfi!, The Lunchbox, and Life of Pi.
📚 Books: I enjoy reading books that nourish the soul and expand the mind — from travel literature and historical tales to spiritual writings and self-growth. I’m especially drawn to stories rooted in real experiences and human emotions. Authors like Paulo Coelho, Ruskin Bond, and Rumi deeply inspire me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most amazing things I’ve done is building my own travel company from the ground up in the heart of Varanasi — a city known for its spiritual depth and timeless charm. What began as a passion for exploring and connecting with people has grown into a journey of helping others discover the real essence of India.
Through this venture, I’ve had the opportunity to meet travelers from around the world, share local stories, support communities, and create experiences that go far beyond just sightseeing. Each journey I’ve helped plan or been a part of has left a unique mark — and being able to turn my passion into purpose is something I truly cherish.

What I Can Share with Hosts
Varanasi is more than just temples and ghats; it is a living museum of India’s ancient civilization, where spirituality, art, music, rituals, and everyday life flow together like the sacred Ganges. I can share with you the real essence of the city — from peaceful morning boat rides on the river and exploring hidden alleys filled with centuries-old stories, to witnessing the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti, a ritual that touches the soul.
