Hello there stranger! I am currently a PhD student at University of Eastern Finland. I was born and brought up in India , in the city of Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta). From my late teenage, I have discovered this passion for travelling and encountering new places, new people and new cultures. I'm more of a backpacker than a tourist, so I'm looking to soak in the authentic experiences of a place rather than a walk and click touristic experiences. I love conversations with locals, photography, music, good food and drinks and just a first person look into the lives of people around the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a big fan of Wes Anderson movies for its incredible aesthetics. I also follow Nolan, Coen brothers, David Fincher and Alejandro G. Iñárritu very religiously. Being from Kolkata, I of course stan Satyajit Ray movies. Big fan of french movies too. The most recent movies that I have seen and that really left profound impressions in me are Krzysztof Kieślowski's "Three Colours" trilogy and a British indie film named " When did you last see your father?" I am passionate about movies in a way that a greatly executed script can literally suck me into it, so much so I live with those characters for days in my head, going through scenes which fascinated me over and over again! I am also into theater, I was the secretary of the dramatics club in my college. I was part of an amateur theater group in the city of Kolkata named "Aarshi" (mirror in English) and we performed well-known Indian plays as well as mimes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I am very much into hiking. Once I hiked up a 5000 m Himalayan peak called Pangarchullah, without proper gears. It was not a wise thing to do, but I loved the rush of adrenaline!
