CURRENT MISSION

After my youngest son turned 23, I felt it was time to start figuring out what comes next. I always wanted to travel and take photos and write, but never had the time or money to pursue it full time. The opportunity may be knocking now though.

ABOUT ME

Serial entrepreneur and wanna be globe trotter. Former and reformed workaholic. Nothing excites me more or makes me happier than the thought of International travel. Do not ask me why, as I know that there are some absolutely amazing places here in the states, I just seem to have a wild penchant for foreign lands and peoples.
My son and I have traveled extensively over the years and have met some truly amazing people. Now with the economy in the tank, our travels have slowed down, but with Couch Surfing, we still get to meet amazing people and travel vicariously through all of their adventures.
My future goal once my son leaves for college is to take a year long sabbatical and travel to every single place in the world that I have ever thought I might like to see. I even thought about visiting orphanages and charities and doing volunteer work in every country I visit for at least one week a month while I am there (wherever there is).

It's important to step out of your own skin sometimes and be able to empathize with others. However, it is equally important for you to stay true to yourself and having the courage to follow your own dreams without being swayed by the "public court of opinion".

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted only once, but enjoyed my guest very much. He was a humanitarian and a healer through dance and he walked through my entire home the day he left and blessed every door post to every room. A very interesting gentleman. I would even LOVE to swap places with other couch surfers who have comparable lodgings or even smaller places that are close to the water would work as well.

I am interested in meeting people from all walks of life, as well as sharing stories of our adventures and getting new ideas for new places to visit and most of all making new friends who share the love for travel as much as we do.

Travel, world travel, international travel, cruising, the Autobahn, long train rides, any travel that does not involve being groped by the TSA or Irradiated by the airport X-rays.
Anything that has to do with adventure. I am breaking into the world of online marketing as well as learning how to build websites too, so that my business will be mobile and can travel with me wherever I go, and still produce a reliable stream of income.
Learning how to farm and grow organic fruits and veggies ~ equestrian activities ~ anything remotely to do with the ocean, i.e. fishing, sailing, snorkeling, etc... I am a bit of an adrenaline junky, so anything that is exciting, risky or even scary ~ Let's GO!!

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

*I climbed an active volcano that faces Santorini, Greece right after my 45th birthday. It was 105 degrees in the shade and the ascent took over 2 hours. I was severely hungover and dehydrated from the night before and wanted to give up about a dozen times, but my then 10 year old son kept encouraging me on and we f-i-n-a-l-l-y made it to the top. That was truly an accomplishment!!
* I watched a ceremonial tribal "pole dance" which involved a dozen natives standing on a 3 ft. by 3 ft. platform 60 ft. in the air above a grotto, wrap ropes around their bodies and the tree itself and perform a synchronized rope dance all the way down to the ground below. This was one of the most spiritual experiences I have ever had.* I ziplined through towering oak trees over 100 ft high in Belize.* I have taken a submarine and a jet ski tour to islands in Mexico that were filled with enormous Iguanas and various reptiles.* I have gone spelunking in underwater caves in Belize.* I have jumped off the bow of a 77 foot wooden Schooner into the middle of the Mediterranean sea between islands in the Cyclades in Greece.* I have para-sailed in Acapulco Mexico.
* I para-sailed on a Merry-Go-Round bench in Cancun with my son when he was 6 years old. Scariest thing I think I've ever done except for skydiving. Whew!!
* I went tandem skydiving on my 50th birthday.
* I've gone Hot-Tubbing in sub zero weather in Phoenix AZ.

I am a marvelous cook and love sharing this talent with friends and family. I am also a little bit of a wine connoisseur, and would be happy to give you the tour of our local Texas Vineyards and do some wine tasting!

A knowledge of our fair city as well as Galveston and Bolivar Island. A pretty swank guest room and a private bath and my love of travel and story telling, plus a great place to tell them, on my patio around my fire-pit while my two Akita's do their nightly hunt.
