About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Why not?

ABOUT ME

I am a journalism graduate - if that means anything - and I am about to head out on a round the world trip of sorts. I plan to travel the US and Canada as far as money will travel and then try and make my way in London.

I am easygoing and laid-back and enjoy just taking life as it comes. I have dreams of sleeping on a beach in summer in Croatia, standing on a mountain top at sunrise in Nepal, swimming in any and all oceans and just generally experiencing the fascinating beauty of the world, with a drink or two and some amazing food thrown in there! I may have downgraded the "drink or two" part...

PHILOSOPHY

Go, see, do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have not used couch surfing for a couple of years now, I was living with housemates who were not happy with the idea of hosting surfers but I am back on the bandwagon after closing that horrible chapter...enough said.

Host, surf, chat, explore - I'm keen!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed last time I was in Europe a couple of times.

I stayed with a guy named Marcus in Dublin in March around the St Patty's Day time and he was so easygoing, allowing 9 of us to crash at his place. It was amazing to see someone so open to such a big group of people and pretty much converted me to this whole couch surfing thing.

I also surfed in Lucerne in Switzerland with a group of 5 students who spoke 12 languages between them and showed us where to buy food we could actually afford. It was a great time in the most beautiful place and once again the generosity and open nature of the hosts blew me away.

Interests

I love to write and read and take these loves with me wherever I go. I am happiest by the ocean but will settle for some snowcapped peaks with a snowboard and a trip back home to the mountains never goes astray.

I am recently addicted to scuba diving, despite my initial abhorrence of fish! I love food, in all forms, and wine, gotta love wine. And anyone with a good story to tell.

Music, Movies, and Books

Any book that keeps me up all night and steals me from sleep is my idea of heaven. I have a soft spot for fantasy epics and a hint of gothic not to mention books that seem to come in sets of 10. Just a couple include Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon, the Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson, The Belgariad by David Eddings, Chocolat, The Millennium Trilogy, The Book Thief, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
