About Me

Hey there! I'm an artist who loves to explore new places. I draw a lot of inspiration from the world around me to create fantasy worlds in my head. I recently quit my job and bought a one way ticket to Mexico and am starting my travels around Latin America.

When I was 18 I was keen to see the world so moved as far away from home as possible, to New Zealand where I lived and worked for a year. On my way there I spent a couple of months in Indonesia and stayed for a few weeks in Malaysia. During this experience I fell in love with the countries I visited, traveling in general, and met loads of amazing people with different life experiences.

Since then I've been to more countries but haven't spent more than a month away at a time. Covid meant that I couldn’t leave the UK so I decided to study illustration. A few years ago (in-between studying) I travelled around Europe, visiting Czech Republic for a psy-trance festival then Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Albania and Montenegro.

I love spending time in nature, the feeling you get when you reach the top of a big hill, wild swimming & camping, learning about different cultures, cooking meals for friends/family, looking after animals, live music, relaxing on a beach, poi, painting, and other arty activities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on here to meet cool new people, I think that everyone has a good story to tell if you have the time to get to know each other.

Also to explore more of the world! I like traveling slowly, as that way you get to see interesting places that you might skip over when you're following a jam-packed itinerary.

Music, Movies, and Books

here are some of my favourites in no particular order....

BOOKS:
- Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World, Haruki Murakami
- The Left Hand of Darkness, Ursula K. Le Guin
- Dune, Frank Herbert
- Monday Starts on Saturday, Boris and Arkady Strugatsky

MUSIC GENRES:
- Lo-fi Hip-hop (makes my brain calm and happy)
- Rap (MF DOOM, Mac Miller, R.A.P. Ferreira, Earl Sweatshirt, Jean Grae, A Tribe Called Quest and so many more)
- Dub (think Stand High Patrol, The Herbaliser, King Tubby)
- Techno (must be base heavy, dark, anything that feels like it belongs in a grimy warehouse)
- Anti-folk (think Moldy Peaches, Jeffery Lewis, etc..)
- post-punk (Velvet Underground especially)
- Psy-trance (anything that goes bluhblubhbluh and drippy)
- Trip-hop (Massive Attack, Kid Loco, e.c.t.)
- Baseline (it originated in Sheffield like me hehe, especially love it when there's lots of wubs)
- Turkish Psychedelia (it is just so good.... don't know why, but I love it)

MOVIES/TV:
- Nausica Valley of the Wind, Studio Ghibli
- Summer Wars (Anime movie that really stuck with me)
- Community (Troy and Abed are the best)
- Avatar the Last Airbender (I don't care that it's a kids show, the world-building is amazing)
- Orange is the New Black
- Peep Show

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Paragliding in NZ! I had an amazing time and felt what it must be like to be able to fly. I'd love to one day learn how to do it by myself and be able to hike up a mountain to then fly down it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Painting/drawing people/most things art-related. If you want me to teach you techniques or just have a chill day I'm always keen.

I especially love to meet creative people. I admire musicians a lot, despite being more visually creative myself. I would love to learn how to mix music and make beats electronically, so if anyone would be willing to teach me that’d be amazing. Also if anyone has any story ideas they’re working on (books/comic/meaning behind songs or paintings e.c.t.) I’d interested to talk about them and share my own.

I can cook good veggie food, mango salads, stir-frys, and dahl are some of my go-to recipes. I do eat meat as well, but I grew up veggie so am not the best at cooking meat, I can cook prawns and fish though! Also I love spicy flavourful food.

I'm currently trying to learn Spanish so any practice is much appreciated. I speak english fluently also so if anyone wants to practice their english I could help out.

I love animals, my mum's a professional dog walker and I have helped her out from time to time. I also love cats, lizards (they eat the bugs that eat me), goats, e.c.t.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’m able to share all the skills mentioned above. At the moment I’m wanting to paint more than anything, so if you want to learn how to paint/draw people, or spend some time mutually creating that would be ace. Also here to share some good stories, good food and good company! Owhhh and if anyone wants to go on a hike or adventure in nature I’d love to share that experience.

Countries I’ve Visited
