My name is Ashely and I'm a 23 year old from Tacoma Washington (near Seattle). I am currently spending time in Norway exploring with my younger brother and visiting family. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to travel and see as much of this part of the world as I can, but am afraid I can't always afford hostel prices. I also am working on branching out and trying new adventures, and couch surfing sounds like a great way to do that.

Interests

I love my job as a counselor. My passion is social justice and advocacy for the voiceless; in my immediate experience, people of color, the LGBTQ community, and those with severe mental illnesses. I also love learning about different social norms from culture to culture, and learning about new places. Aside from that, I love trying new foods, people-watching, and observing the beauty of cities' architecture and natural elements.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music, particularly hip-hop, rap, R&B, soul, funk, Motown, and just all around feel good jams. My favorite movie is Footloose, and I am currently reading The Fellowship of the Ring for the first time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think the most amazing thing I've done is give up everything I've ever known (stability, income, my home) and move to a country where I was still learning the language. I studied in Barcelona spring of 2015.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can lend a listening ear and polite etiquette. I can offer cultural comparisons from a Pacific Northwest perspective, I can share pictures of my home that I love, and hopefully the opportunity to return the favor someday.
