About Me

Hi, I’m Ashleigh from Malaysia! I’m currently on a one-year sabbatical after working for three years as a management consultant in regulatory risk advisory at KPMG Singapore. I have a degree in Chemical Engineering, but I’m taking this time to explore new experiences and figure out my next steps. I love outdoor adventures like hiking and exploring nature, and I have a passion for music—I play the violin and piano and have experience teaching kids.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m traveling around Australia on a Working Holiday Visa, hoping to meet new people, exchange stories, and experience different cultures from a local’s perspective. I’d love to share good conversations, or even play some music if you have an instrument around! 😊

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I’ve done is taking a leap of faith to go on a one-year sabbatical and move to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa. Leaving behind a stable career as a management consultant to explore new experiences, work in different industries, and embrace a more adventurous lifestyle has been both exciting and nerve-wracking. It’s pushed me out of my comfort zone, but I’m loving the journey of discovering new places, meeting incredible people, and figuring out what truly excites me in life! 😊

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach violin and piano, especially to beginners, as I have experience teaching music. I can also share some basic phrases in Mandarin or Malay, and if you're interested, I’d love to introduce you to Singaporean/Malaysian food—maybe even cook a simple dish!

I’d love to learn about different cultures, languages, and ways of life. I’m also keen on picking up new skills, whether it’s local recipes, travel hacks, or even outdoor activities.

I can share my travel experiences, interesting conversations, and maybe some live music if there's an instrument around! Most importantly, I’d love to exchange stories and perspectives—everyone has something unique to offer. 😊

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share great conversations, travel stories, and cultural exchange—I love learning about different perspectives and experiences. If my host is interested, I can also share basic violin or piano skills, or even play some music together if there’s an instrument around!

Since I enjoy cooking, I’d be happy to introduce my host to some Singaporean/Malaysian dishes or help out in the kitchen. I can also share basic phrases in Mandarin or Malay if you're curious about learning a new language.

Most importantly, I bring a positive and open-minded attitude, and I’d love to contribute in any way I can—whether it’s helping out with small tasks, sharing stories, or just bringing good vibes! 😊
