I'm passionate about learning about new people and new places and seeking out authentic experiences and challenges. I am currently pushing myself outside of my comfort zone by teaching English in the Czech Republic. I was an Elementary School teacher in The States before moving to CR. My favorite part of teaching is the personal connection I am able to have with my students and the things I learn from them each day. Traveling to new places and seeing as much of the world as I can is another passion which I am feeding by teaching abroad. I am also using my free time to explore some of my other interests and see where they might take me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find that the best way to learn about a new place and understand what life is like there is to spend time getting to know and understand the people who live there. I'm hoping that being on Couchsurfing will help me do this. I'm also passionate about budget friendly travel and unique experiences. While I am not currently in a position where I am able to host (I don't have total control over my living space), I would really like to have and embrace this opportunity in the future.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to a wide variety of music, but my favorite genre is Anti-Folk or Singer-Songwriter. Alexi Murdoch, Fleetwood Mac, Passenger, First Aid Kit, and Regina Spektor are my go-to favorites. My favorites of the moment are Cash+David, Tank and the Bangas, and Stan Rogers. I'm also a sucker for almost any musical soundtrack!
The only genre of movie that I have a blanket dislike for is Horror. Pride and Prejudice, Away We Go, Through Your Eyes, Interstellar, Meet the Patels, and Schindler's List are some of my most re-watched movies. I'm also a sucker for any Disney-Pixar film and BBC Period Mini-Series.
To choose my favorite book is an impossible task...and will cause me to ramble and justify to an even greater extent than I have already.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer thought-provoking conversation, genuine interest, and unadultered curiosity. I am respectful of my hosts' wishes and make every attempt to leave my borrowed spaces in the exact state which I found them.
