Hey Everyone!

My name is Ashley and I'm 29 years old. I was born and raised in Iowa but later moved to California for school. Currently, I am finishing my internship in Texas, which I will complete this coming August. I travel to take a break from life and the American culture... sometimes both can be a bit overwhelming. When I travel, I like to immerse myself in the culture by meeting locals, living the way the locals live, and eating what the locals eat. It's rare I ever have a definitive plan in place... I usually just go with whatever comes my way. I'm easy going, love music and food, and would love to meet awesome friends in the process!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had never heard of couch surfing until recently. I typically stay in hostels but I am having trouble finding available rooms due to the short stay(s). A friend recommended this to me, and I thought it looked really fun. It seems like the perfect place to meet new people who are familiar with the areas I'm traveling to :)

Favorite Music: everything. I have quite the eclectic taste. I enjoy everything from blues to heavy metal to post hardcore to indie to old country.

Favorite Movie: Mallrats. Hands down.

Book: The Kite Runner is probably my favorite, but really anything Bukowski and anything about serial killers (I'm a forensic psychologist, remember?)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I celebrated Galungan with the locals of Bali. They dressed me in traditional balinese dress and allowed me to pray at the temple during the offerings. It was the most humbling and extraordinary experience of my life.
