About Me

I'm a really laid back person, focused on moving overseas to Ireland at the moment. I've been stuck in my hometown for the better part of my life and I’ve tried to leave home when I can.

I've done a bit of traveling around the world, and I always came home a better person than when I left - I love meeting people and hearing their stories. Relating to strangers and realizing that we're all more connected than we realize... it's an inspiring feeling. :)

Right now I'm living in Norman, OK with my dog, a Border Collie mix named Toph. I'm planning on relocating to Dublin, Ireland at the end of 2018!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As of Fall 2016, I made a lifelong dream come true - I studied abroad in Paris and spent whatever free time I had traveling throughout the rest of Europe. I met so many wonderful people throughout my time there, and learned pretty quickly that sharing a bottle of wine with a stranger is better than drinking alone. My best stories from traveling abroad include random strangers that somehow became friends.

Basically, I'm a broke college student at heart & looking to travel the world, and this site seems like an affordable (and fun) way to do so. I also love meeting new people and hearing stories. Traveling has taught me that most people have incredible stories to tell - you've just gotta be willing to listen.

Interests

First and foremost, I'd be remiss not to mention my intense passion for writing. While many things have changed and evolved throughout my life, being a writer has always remained a large part of my identity. It sparks my curiosity of the world, of the people and places surrounding me. I also love history and learning about the places I visit - from small towns to sprawling cities.

I love live music, going out or staying in, playing guitar (poorly), learning new things, shooting pool, camping and anything outdoors, road tripping, karaoke, exchanging stories with strangers, art, getting lost in new cities... a little bit of everything, really.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music ranges from Billy Joel to Redbone to Jack Johnson to Weezer to Bob Dylan to Tupac. I LOVE MUSIC. I'm open to any and all suggestions and love hearing stuff I've never heard before.

On my playlist for July 2017: The National, James Vincent McMorrow, and Childish Gambino.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Placed in the National Tournament for APA Billiards in Las Vegas (2013).

Last year, I was front row to see Jack Johnson on the beach, on his birthday, at sunset... it was perfect.

I met Pat Carney of The Black Keys back in 2010. He signed a drum head that he bled all over & gave it to me.

Planned a two-week trip through Italy with my 3 aunts & sister, and none of them had ever left the U.S. before. I wish I could put it on my resume because of how stressful and complicated it was, but it was also one of the best experiences of my life.

Lived in Paris for 5 months and traveled Europe solo. I learned a lot about people from other cultures, but learned even more about myself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a tendency to leave books with new friends I've made across the U.S. - I like sharing things that inspire me or have made my life better in some way or another. I plan to continue this tradition with hosts/future friends around the world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A few stories and a world of advice (whether you think it's sound advice is up to you I guess, haha). I'm not afraid to talk about the depth of human existence, but I'm also not afraid to have a great time and let loose. I love exchanging life lessons and stories that have changed people in some way or another.
