ABOUT ME

I am secretary of my colleges outdoor recreation club. I am a rock wall instructor. I am very involved in civic engagement. I volunteered in Peru in the summer of 2013 and it was the best experience of my life. I am now working with a nonprofit called Little Angels of Honduras and plan to soon go volunteer there! I absolutely love meeting new people and making friends! This summer my friend and I are doing a cross country road trip. We also plan on backpacking Europe within the next couple of years. I am planning on going to work at Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe as a volunteer conservationist. I am also planning on volunteering in Tanzania and hiking MT. Kilimanjaro. My aunt and uncle are missionaries in Papua New Guinea, so I am also planning on going there at some point as well. After I am done with my bachelors degree in a year I am joining AmeriCorps, then hopefully the Peace Corps and I eventually want to work for a nonprofit organization after I get my masters in France!

PHILOSOPHY

Take the path less traveled! "The world is a book and those who don't travel read only one page." Life is about taking chances! I believe in being spontaneous and going with the flow. Planning is needed to an extent but the less you plan the more you appreciate where you end up! I feel like the things we don't plan for are the things we remember and cherish most!

Interests

I love hiking, white water rafting, indoor/outdoor rock climbing, snowboarding, caving, camping, backpacking, etc. Anything outside! I also LOVE volunteering, meeting new people, making a difference and experiencing new places!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While volunteering in Peru I got to visit a new archeological site called Caral. This site was just discovered 15 years ago and it is changing the history of our world as we speak! & I am honored to be one of the first people to experience it!

Teach, Learn, Share

Hostels are an AWESOME & cheap way to travel and the people you meet are absolutely amazing! They're all there for the same purpose: to travel and build new relationships. Everyone makes them out to be horrible but i've had nothing but great experiences.
