I was born and raised in Atlanta and a big piece of my heart still belongs in that great city. You haven't really had fried chicken or sweet tea until you've been to Georgia, but I appreciate people trying to bring the flavors of the South to the Bay Area.

After graduating from the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs!), I spent a year living and working in DC, and even though I hated all their sports teams, I really enjoyed my time there. However, I've wanted to live in San Francisco since I first visited almost ten years ago, and the opportunity to trade in politics for tech and humidity for fog was just too tempting. Now I call the Bay Area home, but I'm looking for explore as much as I possible can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I work to live, not live to work. I'm going to explore as much of this amazing world as I can and build genuine relationship with like-minded people. Couchsurfing seems like the best way to do both!

Interests

Baseball is my one true love, but music, food & travel are all very high on the list as well. I love live music, especially sweating through my shirt with a bunch of strangers which dancing my ass off to electronic music. Since moving to the west coast, I've been trying to get outdoors more often, and I've done a good job of hiking around the Bay Area. I have an itch to go rafting, surfing, etc, and there's just about nothing I won't try at least once!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm currently reading Aziz's new book "Modern Romance," and it's absolutely hysterical. My favorite book of all time is "The Great Gatsby" which I first read in seventh grade, and I keep my copy close-by at all times.

I like all kinds of movies from comedies to anime. I watch "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" once a month with my buddies but totally have a soft spot for romantic movies like "500 Days of Summer." And if you aren't into anime, then go watch "Kiki's Delivery Service." If that coming of age movie doesn't make you feel all warm and cozy then I don't know what to tell you.

I'm re-watching "Girls" with my roommate and re-falling in love with Ray all over again. I've watched "Entourage" all the way through 5 times, and I'm currently engaged in the new season of "True Detective."

Live music is the greatest thing ever. Right now, I'm super into CHVRCHES and Purity Ring, but I've also been on a heavy electronic music binge (Dillon Francis, Jack U, Loudpvck, NGHTMRE, etc.). I grew up on rock and hip-hop, and both are still really important to me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Surfing at sunrise at Witch's Roc in Playa Tamarindo, Costa Rica. I was the only person in the water and had a perfect session. I got out of the water and had a breakfast of beans and rice, plantains, eggs, avocado, and hand-poured coffee. Perfection.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a lot about beer and can find a brew for everyone. I can also recite the Sorting Hat's song from Happy Potter and the Goblet of Fire from memory. It's not something I ever meant to memorize, but it hit me in the shower when I was in middle school that I knew the entire thing.

I want to learn as much as I can about travelling through East Asia. Japan is the next major itch I want to scratch.
