Traveling around, making music, learning banjo, reading books, learn various skills.
Hi! I'm Ash Victim. I write folk-punk songs about whatever I feel like. I am from Jersey Channel Island but now live in Basingstoke, England. I love busking and meeting people :D
My website is www.ashvictim.co.uk
I am interested in anarchist philosophies.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have friends throughout England because I met all my friends here at gigs or busking in the street so a lot of them are people in punk bands that I met when they were on tour and we played a show together so when I go traveling I will often crash on their couches.
I went on a busking tour in the summer of 2011 and when we didn't have anywhere to stay we did some spontaneous couch surfing by going to open mic nights and letting people know we need somewhere to stay and it worked! :)
In August 2013 me and my friend Dan went hitching and busking in France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Although we didn't use the couchsurfing site we met loads of amazing people who let us stay in their houses and only had to sleep in our tent twice!
In 2014 I traveled through Spain, Netherlands, Germany and the UK.
Music! folk, punk, metal, stories, DIY ethic, making things out of junk, reading, busking, traveling
Music, Movies, and Books
lots! anything powerful and emotive. My favorite books are Grapes of Wrath, The Borribles Trilogy and His Dark Materials Trilogy. I'm mainly interested in folk and punk music. Anything with the DIY ethic really. Documentaries and surreal comedies are good.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lots of bands live, Beautiful Days festival, Bearded Theory festival, Sidmouth Folk Week, System of a Down live in Paris 2011, DIY house gigs.
Teach, Learn, Share
- Music. I have a strong interest in underground DIY music so if you want to know any cool underground bands then I'd be happy to show you! I do loads of busking and songwriting so could give you some pointers on that. I play the banjo and could teach you some beginner clawhammer style.
- How to play my instruments better.
- More old folk songs.
- Become better at writing.
- About different cultures and history of places (particularly revolutionary history).
