About Me

ABOUT ME

I never know what to fill these descriptions with! I don’t love labels, which this paragraph will be all about, but I’ll try to write. I’m 21 and studying psychology at the University of Uppsala. I’m Swedish, but I’ve moved around a lot. I think travelling is a thrill and I want to experience as many cultures, places and local eccentricities as possible. I love the idea of couch surfing, it seems like such an intimate and friendly way to discover new places. Other stuff about me I guess would be that I love animals, artsy things, reading, dancing, picnics and beaches.

PHILOSOPHY

I don’t have a clear and worked out philosophy. I think I believe in openness to others’ ideas. I think the scientific perspective’s got it largely right, skepticism combined with possibility. I think life is multifaceted and beautiful with confusing complexity, and that it should be treasured if you can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I live in a room that’s too small to host other couch surfers, but I’m hoping to meet cool people and have the opportunity to couch surf myself when I travel next.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I’m a beginner when it comes to couch surfing! I’ve surfed some when I traveled in Spain and been lucky to meet only friendly, caring hosts. So far my experience is small but positive.

Interests

I love psychology! The mind is fascinating to me. And travelling, and exploring. I think astronomy is incredible too, but I think it’s a superficial interest to me because I hardly know anything about space – the thought of it is just breathtaking and honestly, I think stars are beautiful. I like making things, when I’m bored that’s what I do. Or I read. Or put on loud music and dance. My favorite animal is the humpback whale, but I’ve never met one. It’s definitely one of my dreams.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m an omnivore when it comes to music and movies and books. Right now I’m in the middle of a reggae/dancehall period, so everything I listen to has some connection or other to Jamaica! Kultiration has a steady grip on me, but other than that my likes change. Of course. And I like silly hip hop music, blues, classical music, and the Rolling Stones very much still. In other words I’m open to suggestions.

I haven’t seen any particularly good movies lately. The only one I can think of and that I actually recommend is “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”. And of course “The Man who loved Yngve”! It’s cute, but what I really like about it is the Norwegian dialect of the characters. The dialect of Stavanger is absolutely awesome. I like all kinds of movies, I can’t think of any more right now.

My all-time book favorite since I was a little kid is Harry Potter. This summer the best book I’ve read is “1984” (for the first time! I’ve missed out). I like reading a lot. I’ve had some fun with Murakami as well, and McEwan this summer.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve seen a million amazing small things. The most beautiful I can think of is a hummingbird I saw flash by for a second. I've only seen one in my entire life!

Teach, Learn, Share

I’d like to share what I can. Stories, maybe? Or if you would like to learn Swedish I could teach that, or English maybe. And I’d love to learn some more languages! And how to dance in a slightly more organized way.
