Chi sono

CURRENT MISSION

Live, love, learn, experience, interact, absorb, seek, understand.

ABOUT ME

Whoa, this is a tough one! I consider myself a nomad, or a gypsy of a kind. When not working I tend to be on the road, whether in Oz or which ever country I happen to find myself. I believe "home" to be where ever I am comfortable, and for me that comfort zone has to be internal, because I don't believe true security can be found externally. (Although a nice living space can be pretty cool!)

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that if you can't pay it back, pass it on. That if you have something, like food or sleeping space, share it with someone who has none. That most people are worthy of trust; just listen to your inner voice and be totally honest about your thoughts and feelings, and you will seldom be let down. That if you expect the best, you will be proven wrong less often than those who expect the worst will be proven right. That I would rather die skydiving or on a "chicken bus" in Central America than sitting in front of a tv or office desk. That time spent in front of a television could much better be spent reading or communicating with people. That there is NO alternative other than finding alternatives to mindless consumerism and commercial exploitation of the planet. That money is only a tool and should be used to create, not to accumulate. That we are ultimately responsible for our actions, and have no right to infringe or inhibit others actions unless those actions infringe or inhibit on another's basic rights. That "Modern Civilization" is the greatest threat to survival of the species; any species! That I'd rather be trusting and sometimes be proven wrong, than be bitter and suspicious and be constantly proven right. What you put out there, is what you get back. If you react in anger to other people's mindgames you hand them power over you, and then they win. And moderation in all things, including moderation!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have only just officially joined couchsurfing, but see it as a perfectly logical way of life. I have been spreading the word among my friends and encouraging them to at least check out the website.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My whole life I have been a couch surfer, but not by that title. For 30 years I have traveled around, often staying with acquaintances of friends, other times meeting people randomly and winding up staying with them. More than a few times I have ended up with between 1 and 10 people sleeping in whatever space I am living in at the time.(Just ask my past housemates!)

Interessi

Reptiles, amphibians, arachnids- what the hell, any kind of critters, but less the furred type to others. Rather have a python than a pussycat, possibly because I don't appear to be allergic to pythons. And they travel better!

Photography,(thru the lens composition rather than photoshop- one of my favorite debates is "photography" vs "graphic images.")

Interpretive spirituality- take that anyway you want!

Personal expression, whether thru visual art, music, dance, writing, radical clothing/hairstyles, or radical politics.

Body art (Tattoos, piercings, scarification), so long as it is well thought out and has meaning to the wearer.

Musica, film e libri

Harold and Maude; Diva; Boondock Saints; anything with Johnny Depp, Willum Dafoe or Jodie Foster; Oh Brother! Where Art Thou? (or any Coen Bros films); Bladerunner; Mirrormask; The Shipping News; anything by Wim Wender, Jim Jarmusch, or Lassie Holmstrom.

Musically I like so much it is hard to begin. Not much of a fan of typical C&W or Rap or Hip-Hop or most commercial pop. Just learning to appreciate some techno, especially psy-trance. I rarely listen to radio unless it is community based or public. Love punk and alternative; tribal; kora; sacred, such as chants and meditation music, but not commercial "new-age" crap; blues, especially steel guitar and Delta style. Long time faves are Birthday Party, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Tribal Trance, Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Incantation, Robert Johnson, Tim Buckley, Baba Maal, Yair Dalal, Nine Inch Nails, Offspring, Joy Division. Newer faves are Shake!, Reptiles, Detroit Cobras, Dresden Dolls, Gomez, Infected Mushroom, Chemical Brothers, Hallucinogen, Shpongle

Been reading science fiction/fantasy for as long as I can remember, everything from Dahlgren to Neuromancer to Geek Love.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

There are so many, but shaking hands with the Dalai Llama would have to top the list, my hand tingled for ages!. Although seeing the full moon rising behind the Jaguar Temple at Tikal, Guatemala, comes a close second.

Paesi che ho visitato
