About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to enjoy the company of others

ABOUT ME

I'm a new CS member but have been practicing these ideas for a while. As an avid traveler, I've had the good fortune to meet many wonderful people from all over. In travels, I've made lasting friendships with locals. On occasion, some have been able to visit my home and I've enjoyed sharing time and space in the process. I'm glad to be a part of a community that values cultural exchange and look forward to meeting new friends in the process.

PHILOSOPHY

There are eight tenants I try to live by:
1. Right Understanding
2. Right Thought
3. Right Speech
4. Right Action
5. Right Livelyhood
6. Right Effort
7. Right Concentration
8. Right Mindfulness

Interests

I love to cook, what is better than good food with good company?

I keep all my travel pics on Myspace. Feel free to visit and make comments. I love to share stories about cool places and people. Click on my website above.

Teach, Learn, Share

A little about Austin:

If you’re in town for a bit and want to know what’s going on, I have a few suggestions:

1. Check out the Austin Chronicle (www.austinchronicle.com) - this is the local “alternative” press and is chalk full of info on many events, shows, and restaurants in town (also pick up a paper version if you see one, they’re free). Many Austinites consider it a staple because it is so extensive. For good food ideas, I suggest looking up the “City Guide” section then going to the “restaurant poll” and browsing the reader’s and critic’s picks. There are some real gems in there.
2. Check out the Austinist “Istlist”
(www.austinist.com/istlist) - this is another good site for all the happenings during the week. You’ll also find a good number of reviews of local and touring music acts, as well as some interesting blog material here and there.

If you’re looking for some exercise, consider the hike and bike trail around town lake, there’s a several mile loop that borders the lake (Colorado river) on both sides. The parking lot at Austin High School, just under the bridge, is a good place to start. The trail follows the along the road and eventually crosses the river under the bridge. You’ll see many people riding bikes and jogging the trails. It’s a great way to see the natural beauty of the downtown area and get a little exercise to boot!

Zilker Park is a nice place to relax and spend an afternoon (as long as it’s not too hot). If you get a little warm, you should check out Barton Springs Pool and take a dip, though beware, the water can be a little chilly. A lot of people like to just sit on the lawn at the pool, it’s hilly, shaded and makes a nice place to read a book or doze for a few hours while listening to your MP3 player and taking in the sun.

These are just a few suggestions, please feel free to contact me with any questions you might have, I’m glad to help when I can.
