About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to experience Central Europe and Scandanavia, with people who know all the little hidden gems and that I can have an enriched experience with.

ABOUT ME

REMINDER: I DON'T USE CS AS A DATING SITE.

I'm a 20 year old collared shirt wearing, dog loving, long haired, fringed, pseudo-artist living just outside the city of Melbourne, in Australia.

Currently TRAVELLING after living in New South Wales spending time with family, but I work in the National Gallery of Victoria, and the National Gallery of Australia, and most recently had some of my illustrations exhibited, so I would say I am definitely artistically-driven. I am extremely interested in art, literature, cafe-hopping and op-shopping (thrift shopping)... an understatement really, as there is no dollar value to my wardrobe whatsoever, and almost everything I own has a shirt collar. If you have dogs I can guarantee I will ignore you and make horrible high pitched gaga noises to it (kidding..)
I have 5 siblings ranging from 3-23, so children are no issue at all for me (my family thinks of me as the free babysitter) and as mentioned, pets make me gooey inside.
I have always loved Germany and have wanted to badly to visit since we started learning the language in primary school at age 6.

To really get a non-awkward 'edit your profile' about me, feel free to read my blog at http://www.aufwiedersehen.tumblr.com/ or add me on Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/#!/brightyoungthings

PHILOSOPHY

"The story of my life is the story of half-finished projects and half-read books." - Sufjan Stevens

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have previously hosted couples from the UK, Scotland and Ireland for 3-6 months at a time, and from those experiences learned how more than anything, it is utterly rewarding to do so! It certainly helped to break the monotony of life, and gave me an excuse to rediscover my own city that I love

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have both been hosted by and hosted people.
I surfed in:Reykjvaik, IcelandMunich, GermanyAdliswil (Zurich), SwitzerlandLondon, EnglandLubeck, Germanyand found it invaluable to the host and the surfer. Basically, this allows a REAL view of the sites, lifestyle and people of a country - I know that when I had couples from the United Kingdom, Scotland and Ireland, as well as friends from Germany living with me, I was incredibly excited to show them all the hidden gems that Melbourne, Australia has to offer, and that certainly wouldn't be in any tourist manual.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I managed to get my illustrations exhibited in Melbourne which, for me, was a pretty big achievement. Other than that, these few months are going to help me get a little life experience before I resign myself to study and careers.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't believe in doing the Europe thing half-assed. I've been working towards this for many years now, so I want my months abroad to be not only travel experience, but LIFE experience. I want stories to tell, and get them by submerging myself in a culture as opposed to just observing it.
Working in galleries helps you learn a thing or two about art (or pretending to know about it) and if you need someone to be pretentious and go gallery hopping with you, and talk obnoxiously about the 'juxtaposition' of themes or the 'religious undertones' then I can be your obnoxious art wank. I'm also a self-proclaimed bargain hunter... living out of home in the city will teach you to be thrifty and I definitely love my op-shops. I'm also the best person I and my housemates know at trimming fringes.
