We are a couple with a super awesome, yet sometimes also crazy 3y/o. We have both lived communally / in community most of our adult lives.

Avi says, if you take the 'Artsy' and 'Engineering Nerd' stereotypes, throw in some happy-go-lucky tree hugging hippie, and add a bit of all around silly that sums up his personality fairly well. He is interested in all sorts of nerdy engineering, math, and science-y sorts of things, locally grown food, living and working in community, playing of various musical instruments, and of course hula-hooping.

Mari is really interested in wildcrafting, urban foraging, permaculture, yoga, nature-based spirituality, community building, social justice, biking, tiny houses/ intelligent use of space, science fiction, DIY, food justice.

Things that Avi knows a lot about (or at least has enough interest in enough to have a modest knowledge of): Math, Physics, Electrical Circuit Theory, Computers, Chess / Strategy games, methods of Gardening without the use of artificial chemicals, the proper way to hug a tree as to maximize efficiency, how to be fun and silly and enjoy life (despite all the math and science). He also has a lot of work experience in teaching and tutoring elementary, middle school and college age students.

Mari has multiple certifications for home energy analysis - meaning she can look at a building, its components and energy systems (like the furnace and insulation), understand how they function together, and give recommendations to improve the function. She is interested in melding the "building science" professionalism with passive solar tech, natural building and reuse.
She is also a yoga instructor, and focuses mainly on therapeutic aspects and body safety.
