About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To deepen my roots in Arkansas, and learn new stories from the people whom I meet along the way.
ABOUT ME
I am a proud, young idealist: a student and a teacher. I'm a recent graduate from the University of Idaho, and I'm a corps member with Teach for America. I currently teach high school science at an alternative school in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is to live my life with the purpose of creating something beautiful, inspiring, or thought-provoking - something that will outlast me. Everyone has to the ability to do this. We all have the potential to create something enjoyable, and we should!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am an occasional surfer, and I'm looking forward to hosting once I have my own place. Wherever I am I want to try to get involved with the local Couchsurfing community.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My favorite Couchsurfing experiences occurred in Germany during the spring break of 2010. Each one of my 3 hosts during my trip taught me so much about hospitality and kindness, and during that single week of surfing I improved my German much more than ever before.
My experiences surfing through Germany showed me that I can never again happily stay in a hotel when visiting a new city. A hotel cannot replace great conversations held over dinner and brunch, and it cannot replace a fun night out with new friends.
Interests
I am passionate about cycling, traveling, learning new languages, and meeting new people through CS. I hope to share the stories of my students and learn the stories of the people whom I meet throughout my time here in Arkansas.

Music, Movies, and Books
Film: Stranger Than Fiction, The Lord of the Rings Series, and Brick
Music: Mocean Worker, Fleet Foxes, and Dave Matthews Band
Books: I'm mostly a non-fiction reader, but I'll always love the Harry Potter series
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Volunteering and voting for the first African-American President of the United States. It was one of the most transformational experiences of my life.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to talk and learn about current events, especially from the perspective of the people whom I meet.
I can and would love to teach a new friend some German. It's a truly wonderful language that is sadly not as valued in our country today as in the past.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland, United Kingdom
Countries I’ve Lived In
