About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to see unexplored parts of the United States

ABOUT ME

Currently I am a Teach For America corps member placed in rural Arkansas. I teach Geometry and Algebra 3 to some of the hardest working students in the entire state. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in political science and psychology and a minor in film.

At USC my main passion is the Trojan Marching Band. I play alto saxophone with the band and have traveled the world with them including: London, Shanghai, Seattle, NYC, Chicago, San Francisco, El Paso, San Diego, and many more. Those experiences traveling with the marching band have really shaped who I am.

PHILOSOPHY

I live by these rules: Don't fight crazy. Don't fight stupid.

I try to remember these phrases everyday:
- The coolest people you will ever meet are the ones who are cool with themselves.
- It's nice to be important but it's more important to be really really nice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This may be pushing it, but here's a sort-of couchsurfing experience. The summer after my junior year I packed up my apartment in Los Angeles and moved to Seattle for the summer. I lived with strangers I met from craigslist, interned for a political campaign I've never heard of, and moved to a city I've only spent a day in.

A lot could've gone wrong, but it was such an amazing experience. The housemates I lived with were the nicest people in existence. I still keep in touch with everyone I've met while in Seattle, and I plan on moving back there semi-permanently in the future.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

With the USC Trojan Marching Band I performed on the steps of Trafalgar Square. Playing on such an important European landmark with the backdrop of the National Gallery behind the band was one of the most amazing things I've ever done.

My first experience with the great outdoors was on an alternative spring break program through USC to Orcas Island, WA. On the island we finished a trail that USC has worked on building since the 90s. It was there I had my first experience with hiking and fell in love with the Pacific Northwest. My favorite moment from that trip was when our ranger took us to his favorite spot on the island off the trail. We were on one of the tallest points on the island. From there we could see most of Puget Sound. It was one of the most breathtaking views I've ever seen.

I can teach you plenty of Geometry. I'd like to think I'm good at it.
