ABOUT ME

Hi there!

My name is Austin. I am 28, down to earth, and up for anything! I love traveling for work and play, usually via Airbnb, and deeply value the experience of non cookie-cutter accommodations.

I resurface glass for a living. The work is what I would call "niche-construction" and requires extraordinary attention to detail, as well as proficiency with angle grinders and hand tools. I try to be a careful, considerate, and conscientious person, both professionally and personally.

In my free time I enjoy taking on DIY projects of all kinds. I have brewed beer, planted gardens, built waterfalls, roasted coffee, grown hops, fermented sauerkraut, and constructed a yurt. One might say that I like to tinker. And I do. Usually while listening to podcasts. I also consider myself inquisitive, open-minded, and resourceful.

Backpacking has been a hobby of mine since I started exploring the forests and rivers of Northern Michigan during my undergraduate years in Grand Rapids. I've been fortunate enough to travel and hike all over the United States in the last 10-ish years. One of the core concepts of stewardship in the outdoors is leaving a location better than when you found it. “Pack it in, pack it out.” I truly do strive to treat the property of others' with the same respect and take initiative to see that my footprint is always a net positive.

Past experiences with theft have made me extremely attentive and aware of security. Your house and possessions would garner the same scrutiny and safety.

I grew up with pets (cats, dogs, ferrets, goats, chickens, etc.) and I am comfortable caring for your animals too.

The people closest to me would probably describe my personality as "easy-going", "curious", and "intentional".
