ABOUT ME

We are a class of students at the only Austrian Forestry school located in Bruck/Mur in Styria. Our education lasts 5 years and our school has about 400 students who come from all of the provinces in Austria, with only 30 of our students being girls. Our class has 34 students total. The school looks like a castle. The new part of the school was built with a lot of wood in a modern style and was recently completed in 2012. The outside of the building is covered in solar panels. In school you can find a lot of information about the forest and other related subjects, like forest diseases, harvesting techniques, ecology, biology, etc. Near the school there is our boarding school. In the basement you'll find two working areas, one for wood and one for metal. There is also an indoor shooting range, large gymnasium with a climbing wall, and a fitness room. There are big classrooms in the new building, and in each class there is a computer. Sometimes there is a trophy deer mounted on the wall or a picture. Our school is very environmentally friendly. We have two school forests which together are larger than 700 hectares.

Bruck/Mur is a town of about 13.500 people. While hiking in the area you can see a lot of animals, such as deer, birds and squirrels. Popular places to go hiking are Schweizeben, Lahnhube, Hochanger and Madereck. We could go swimming in the Green Lake in Tragöß in the summer, or we could take the bus to Kapfenberg and could watch a film, go swimming in the pool there or check out the castle there.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

We can teach you about Austrian forestry and hunting traditions and show you beautiful places in Austria. We can go hiking any time of year, skating or skiing in winter and help you get better at those winter sports, and teach you a bit about drinking Austrian beer. We would like to show them our way of hunting and forestry. We want to show our traditions to people from all over the world.
