About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see everything I can see...while I can still see.. ;)

ABOUT ME

I'm currently 36 and traveling has always been a passion. I was lucky enough to start my travels in highschool, traveling to Germany and within the states which included living in the blue ridge mountains every summer. Since graduating college, I've lived in Manhattan NYC, sailed from Maine to the Caribbean, lived on St. John and St. Thomas, worked on boats in Puerto Rico and couch surfed all across Europe. I spent the last decade living abroad teaching English and enjoying life in the mountains of northern Thailand.

I love meeting people and hearing of their stories about travel and life in general. I'm in love with the outdoors (hence the major :P) and find ancient artifacts and history fascinating. Experiencing new cultures and languages is what I'd like to continue to do, opening my eyes to different walks of life.

Fun fact about me - My vision is great, but these days, my hearing isn't. I loved being underwater too much growing up, resulting in many ear infections. Enduro riding all the time, didn't help my case. Please know that in person, if I'm not responding to something you said, I'm not ignoring you, I just didn't hear you haha.

I currently speak fluent English, fluent Thai, pretty good German and beginner Spanish.

PHILOSOPHY

I had gotten this metal bracelet from my grandmother growing up that read, "live well, love much and laugh often" which even though now it's very overused, is still a phrase I really try to live by. I believe in living in the moment because you only live once. "Nothing last forever but the earth and sky, it slips away, all your money wont another minute buy." To me time is a blessing that's not to be wasted. I believe in doing what you love because in the end, if you're truly happy, you are truly living.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I recently moved from Thailand to Spokane WA. I'll be traveling for the next 4 months. I plan to visit Czechia, Slovenia, Portugal, Spain, Argentina, Chili and Peru, but after that I'll be back in the beautiful state of Washington!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
This will be my second time couchsurfing abroad. I used it once back in 2011 and then moved to a place where I didn't have internet or a computer for a long time except the island library and honestly forgot all about it! Back to it and this time once I'm done traveling, it would be cool to #1 actually remember I have this profile haha and #2 when I get back, actually be a host!

Interests

I'm up for a challenge and love hiking (though my lungs would tell me otherwise), love heights, travel and just being outside. I do drink but casually. Nonsmoker. I love working where I am interacting with different people and like to be on the move.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love comedies, and thrillers. Classic movies and films like Shirley Temple. Not gonna lie, I'm a huge wimp when it comes to horror. I remember my dreams each night and I just get too into movies to watch them.

As far as music goes I like a lot of different genres. I few examples are Great Big Sea, Dropkick Murphys, Amos Lee, Mumford and Sons, U2, Arctic Monkeys, James Taylor, Alabama... I enjoy older country music, some hip hop, and dub step.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After graduating I sailed Trans-Atlantic on a schooner from Maine to the Caribbean and fared through a hurricane where after stuck below deck for 28 hours, I sat at alone up at the helm harnessed in as waves crashed down on the boat from above the masts...we all lived but it was crazy..

Made a foreign country I actually got stranded in, a home for almost 10 years. It was an amazing experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

-Thai language
-Willing to learn anything new and interesting, I don't really have a specific thing I'd like to learn.
