About Me

Taking advantage of a freedom I have to wander around. I try not to plan ahead knowing that those plans will change at any given moment.

Unlike many people who feel a calling to wander the world, I'm keeping myself more local. I have come to realize just how gigantic the US is and that there are so many pockets of different types of communities. I have lived in this country my whole life, but I know hardly anything about all it's variations.

I travel by thumb and by foot, and I work wherever people have the goodwill to feed and shelter me. Sometimes this is through farming, sometimes caregiving, and currently serving at a meditation center. I try to go where I can continue learning skills that are useful for me and others, as well as with people who can teach me more about myself and how to be a better self.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

Because I don't believe in paying for experiences. I believe in the goodwill of others and exchanging wisdom.

I play and sing stories that I enjoy sharing with others, some of which are my own, some of which aren't. Despite playing guitar for almost 10 years now, I have only recently considered myself a musician or an artist. I have finally learned how to approach music in a wholesome way, through engaging in the process of music, not by worrying about the end product (this applies to poetry and art as well). I am in the process of learning a whole different approach to music now that I have opened myself up to playing with other musicians. It's very exciting to realize how infinite the possibilities are in all the art forms.

Meditation is becoming an increasingly important part of my day to day. The meditation I practice is not merely for concentration and relaxation, it is a process of reaching to the depth of the impurities and sufferings of the mind in order to develop love and compassion for all.

I am dedicated to learning more about myself.

Music, Movies & Books

Varied types of folk music is my go-to for music, though I enjoy any music that has a clever melody and genuine lyrics.

I can barely sit through movies, but will sit through movies with powerful messages and strong female characters.

And books! Can't get enough of them. Nonfiction as well as fiction of all kinds. I love to let books find their way to me.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

When I allow myself to go forward without a plan, when I allow myself to get temporarily lost, the stories create themselves.

My stories are not to be shared to build my own sense of ego, they are to be shared for others to learn of all that there is to be learned in the world. There is so much out there! Everyone has stories that involve a change in them, bringing light to those changes is what I love about hearing from others.

Teach, Learn, Share

Just you wait! Each person I connect with is a new opportunity.

What I Can Share With Hosts

I will play songs that make you want to listen intently and earnestly, because they will remind you of you. In my company, you might find that you won't worry a bit about me judging you or analyzing every move you're making. You will find yourself at ease and eager to share any lessons you've picked up in your lifetime. They are richer than they seemed at the time you received them, after all, we all just want to be happy right?
