About Me

The more I travel this country, the more I realize I know absolutely nothing about it. The surprises may be pleasant or unpleasant and I am thankful for them all.

More often than not, I travel by thumb, and then when I get to a new place, I explore by walking around and sitting and watching locals or tourists.

I like to help out wherever people have the goodwill to feed and shelter me. Sometimes this is through gardening, farming, sometimes care-giving, and sometimes serving food at Vipassana meditation centers. Sometimes it's doing all the dishes for the duration of my stay and sweeping.

I'm actively trying to be,
Becoming a better human.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

So that we can exchange the little wisdoms we have accumulated (I know you have them!)

Interests

I've been doing music half my life now, but only in the last two years am I approaching music and more art forms in a completely new light. Creation is a whole something else!

For my music needs I play on a couch, around a fire pit with good company, or on the street for the occasional dollar.

For my visual art and movement needs I have recently been accumulated into a wonderful group called ROMPUS (https://www.facebook.com/therompus). We play with paint and shadows on a lit piece of fabric behind or to the side of bands at festivals in and around Philadelphia. I'm learning more of movement and color!

For my written needs, I do read a whole lot of books. Depending on the length of my couchsurfing I will probably pick up and maybe finish one from your library. (Always down to trade whatever I have with me in my pack!) I am learning to love poetry and am starting to dabble in it myself.

Besides all the artsy fartsy stuff, I used to be more actively political but still generally want there to be less oppression in the greater context of society and our interpersonal relationships as well. To use a phrase, I am anti-capitalism but don't take any of it too seriously at the moment. I'm one to dialogue, not debate.

Music, Movies & Books

My go to music is usually a singer with a guitar and some stories, sometimes there's another singer involved. I'll probably dance to whatever you put on though.

And books! Can't get enough of them. Nonfiction as well as fiction of a lot of kinds. I love to let books find their way to me. Each one has got something special that only I can know. Anybody else feel that way?

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I got a ride with two fellas in NY state going into Massachusetts who had been friends for 40 odd years since grade school and had been fishing together in any little creek they could find all that time. I wasn't in a rush that day and so they taught me how to fish as we followed water ways.

But really, I am amazed at most things.

Teach, Learn, Share

Just you wait! I promise neither of us will be disappointed.

What I Can Share With Hosts

Currently fermenting kefir on the road, and giving it away to any who want it!

But ultimately I will tailor it to the specific host in question.
And besides that, how CAN I really know all that I offer to a person. I am not that person.
