To see more of the world before I lose much of the opportunity between now and retirement!

ABOUT ME

Despite my knowledge to the contrary I like to consider myself rather well traveled and experienced in global culture. I love adventure and going new places but I have only been to Europe twice in the past 4 years, in which time I've had two sons (also the reason for the lack of travel!). I love music, flying, meeting new people, and just new and adventurous things in general! I'm an Eagle Scout with thousands of hours in the wild, I love being outdoors, my favorite books tend to revolve around Ancient Rome (Republic to Empire) but I've always been very interested in aviation as well. For my two science electives for my criminal justice degree I took stellar and planetary astrophysics, I've maintained a 4.0 GPA (a real feat since I was never a straight-A student yet now I work full time and have two young sons in addition to school!), and I enjoy movies, laughing til my abs hurt (and til others around me cry from laughter!), and I always feel rather at home in Italy whenever I go. Italy, Switzerland, and Hawaii are among my favorite places so far, but to be honest, there are few places in the world where one can get such great food as in Rochester, NY! One more thing, I may be in Texas but I'm a northerner by birth and upbringing and I'm educated so I'm not blinded by the conservative Bush-following right wingers :) I'm moderate in my political views but down here I'm what I consider a "Texas liberal" due to the sea of conservatives around me :) (We absolutely do not have to talk politics if we do not agree--there's no problem there!)

PHILOSOPHY

Live until you die. Maybe taken each day at a time I don't seem to follow that mantra but I've done some crazy things in my life whether smart or well thought out or not. I've finally gone skydiving, I'm a licensed pilot, air traffic controller, and aircraft dispatcher, I used to race cars, I have yet to run with the bulls but I'd still like to try it, and I'll usually give just about anything a first try!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm doing this so I have the opportunity to meet people, spend time as a local in other countries for some of the time, keep travel costs down so I can do it more often or spend the money elsewhere on my journey, and so maybe I can meet some new people here in Texas as well!
