About Me

I'm always making new friends, experiencing great adventures, and loving life.

I love to make people laugh and I'm sure to impress you with my cooking skills in the kitchen. I have a passion for food. I love going to local markets around the world and smelling and tasting the local produce, spices, and specialties. I love seeing live music, playing guitar, and getting out on the dance floor. Gardening is another love of mine. I've grown many varieties of vegetables and fruits. I can see myself working on farms and vineyards soon.

My friends say I have too many hobbies; surfing, gardening, cooking, cycling, hiking. I say, why not try everything there is to offer in this world? I am a free spirit and I'm going anywhere the World takes me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been a guest once so far and loved the experience. It is great to be able to meet people at the market in town and explore local foods, learn about the culture, to learn from local people, to have meaningful conversations, to teach others, and to make lasting friendships around the globe.

Interests

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just recently, I spent 5 months hiking the Appalachian Trail on the East Coast of the United States. Yes that's right I said 5 months, hiking. The trail is 2,185 miles long, spanning from Springer Mountain Georgia to Katahdin in Baxter State Park, Maine. It was the most challenging and rewarding backpacking trip of my life. An accomplishment I never thought possible. Along the way I met so many amazing people. Everyone had a different story, personality, and skills to share with others. My days consisted of carrying a 35 lb. pack on my back, walking up and down mountain ranges, through forests and swamps, making campfires, cooking meals with good friends, setting up my tent and sleeping bag every night, in the warm heat of the Summer, and some days in the rain and thunderstorms, river crossings, and some canoeing. The last week of September 2014 I looked out from the top of Katahdin, realizing that this great feat was something I set out to do, a goal for myself to see what I was capable of. It made me realize that I'm always going to have perseverance, and a passion to be an explorer, a leader, and to always be wanting more from life's challenges.
