About Me

Hey, I am Ricky, I am a customer service specialist with a knack for gaming and blogging about videogames. I was born in the (arguably) most beautiful island in the world, Madeira Island, and I have lived there all my life, for 44 years and around 9 months at least, until my life gave a complete stumble and twist and I ended up all the way across the Atlantic Ocean in South America, on the beautiful island of Margarita in Venezuela, where I am at the moment with my GF and partner "in crime", Laura (kiss, kiss).

I can say I am a bit of everything (???), so I decided to list you some of the most relevant:

- I never was much of an adventurer, the farthest I have ever been from my birthplace was Paris, France;
- I am (almost morbidly) afraid of high risk things like skydiving, bungee jumping, shark swimming, etc. You know, extreme radical sports. Oh, and rollercoasters. You will NEVER see me in one;
- I never been much of a risk taker. And I am afraid to fly. Yep. So, it is pretty much safe to say that it took a LOT from me to fly around 9 hours across the ocean to get to where I am right now. But it has been worth it.
- But hey, if you reached this far I congratulate you. Well, it's either because you are just curious about to see if I am really the most boring person in the universe or I am just an entertaining writer;
- Anyways, I love photography, I have my own dedicated insta for that (whoooo fancy!), I love food and cooking food, especially BBQ's. I have been told before that my roasted chicken is the best they tasted in their life. Hey, it wasn't me who said that!
- Why am I doing this? Hmmm.... The answer is just below. Carry on!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Brutally and utterly honest? Because of Laura, my partner. She introduced me to CS and me, being the "old, boring, old fashioned" guy, lifted one eyebrow and thought "what the heck, you could be getting psychopaths in your home!" and THAT is the main reason I crossed the entire Atlantic Ocean. I just couldn't allow this!

Just kidding!

I found it really interesting and after she shared her experiences in Brazil with me and after I joined her In Margarita we both hosted for the first time and it was a great and enjoyable experience, so here I am!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like music. Not specific music. Just music. I can like a few Taylor Swift songs, and even sing or wiggle dance with them... and in the next minute I can be traveling to some techno or rock. 80's and 90's music was the best, by the way. Okay, some 2000's as well. But I do have a favorite band, which is OASIS. They made my childhood better. Say what you want about them. Some of their songs are pure ingeniality.

I am sorry to say I haven't read many books. Or at all. I would like to. I just can't find the will or energy to. I am ashamed to admit it but hey, you can't be perfect in everything xD

I do enjoy movies. Quite a lot. I wish I could stop time so I could watch all the movies I want to. And a bit similarly to my music tastes, I like a bit of everything. I do especially like horror movies, even a good B-movie sometimes so I can have some guilty pleasure fun. I can even watch some... ahem, romantic comedies (wink, wink!) if I have to -_-

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, as I've mentioned, I have never been much of and adventurer.

I hate flying. More like, I dread it.

So, for many it could be something really frivolous... but for me, facing one of my biggest fears and crossing halfway across the world (leaving many, MANY things behind) to chase my dreams and being with someone this special? For ME.... it is pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Food.

Give me food to try and experiment and taste and you conquered me.

And I like to share about the gaming world. Which is bigger than the movies and music industries combined.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Oh well, just basic life changing stories of how I transformed from a boring "stay home" guy to a slightly more adventurous person thanks to this deeply special woman.

Now seriously: I love to talk about my island, Madeira, it's food and customs. The way we speak and relate to the world. And curiosities about it.
