About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world, and meet some incredible people.

ABOUT ME

I'm 21, I grew up in Mt. Eliza, coastal town 50km from Melbourne, Australia. I moved up to the city about 2 years ago, loved every bit of it and done some travel here and there, but there are definitely a few hundred other places I'd love to visit. I try and keep myself occupied with as many things as possible. In between my part time job and study, I run a nail art blog, I cook and love to eat (a secret obsession of mine is watching cooking shows), I read -- I just finished 1Q84 by Murakami, and now I'm reading The Casual Vacancy by JK Rowling, I watch TV shows such as Community, Mad Men, Game of Thrones, 30 Rock, Misfits, Girls, True Blood, and Adventure Time, among others.

I just finished my undergraduate degree in Arts, with a double major in Media and Communications and Anthropology and Social Theory at the University of Melbourne, and recently just been offered a place in a Master of Advertising at The Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) which I've deferred til 2014. I've needed a break from studying for ages - I went straight to uni after completing high school.

I'm currently living in the city of Melbourne, in an area called Brunswick which is well known for its laid back and relaxed lifestyle, with heaps of cafes, bars and restaurants, so I love eating out, and having a good coffee whenever I can.

PHILOSOPHY

Try everything at least once.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My brother recently returned from a trip that took him around the US and to Japan for around five months and for the most part used Couchsurfing to find accommodation and meet people. He'd used it before during a trip to Europe in 2009 and has nothing but good things to say about every experience.
This sounds so exciting for me and definitely the way I'd love to see the world and help others see the world. I don't think there's anything more authentic than hanging out and staying with locals, to experience the true lifestyle of a region.

Interests

Cooking, eating, reading, nail art and design, watching TV shows, travelling, going to the movies, having a drink with friends.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've sung lead in a musical with a 50-strong cast.
I've seen many of my favourite bands live, including the Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Childish Gambino, The Wombats, The Temper Trap, Coldplay, Ben Folds Five, Angus and Julia Stone, Sia. I can go on!
I actually stood in 45+ degree heat for 5 hours at a festival to see Sia and Angus and Julia Stone. AND I survived!

Teach, Learn, Share

Since living in Melbourne, I've learned a lot about the power of self confidence. I really want to see if what I've learned applies to travel, especially to cities I know nothing about.
