About Me

Hi, I'm Ayumi!
I love traveling, eating, talking, swimming and camping.

I have a 5-year-old daughter. She's an active child who loves insects and animals. I'm going on a trip around the world with her. Unfortunately, my husband passed away from cancer four years ago. Time is limited, so I want to give my daughter as much time as possible to experience this beautiful Earth and its many wonderful cultures and environments. I hope that our meeting will be a wonderful memory for both of us.

I am allergic to tobacco and cats, so unfortunately it is difficult for me to stay with hosts who have cats or who smoke. However, hookah is no problem.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hope that Couchsurfing will allow me to experience the deeper culture of a country that you can't get by simply traveling to tourist spots. To do that, I'd like to eat and talk together, and share ideas and experiences!

Music, Movies, and Books

Enya, The Beatles, Jazz.
I don't usually listen to music, but I like party music and dancing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

・Lived in the Philippines for two years.
・I have swam with whale sharks in the Philippines.
・I have completed full marathons twice.
・ I have climbed Mount Fuji twice (as you know, it is the highest mountain in Japan).
・I have seen a 360-degree starry sky on the grasslands of Mongolia.
・I have studied permaculture in Australia.
・I have grown rice and vegetables using natural farming methods.
・I have started an organic farming group in the most beautiful village in Japan.
・Participate in a 10-day Vipassana meditation program
・I have dived in Japan, Australia and the Philippines and am a PADI Rescue Diver.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd like to learn how to build structures using bamboo and how to cook new dishes. I'm also teaching myself photography and videography and editing, so if anyone knows how to do these things, please let me know! I'd like to share my travel memories as YouTube videos.

To be honest, I use Couchsurfing to communicate and share, not just to stay. While free lodging is certainly appealing, that's not the only purpose of a couch request. It's for my child's and my own learning.

I'm traveling with my daughter, so I definitely don't want to encounter hosts who are looking for sexual contact. I understand that hugging and kissing culture is a wonderful thing, but please be careful not to over-expose yourself, as this can lead to misunderstandings. I look forward to sharing a wonderful time with you both.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can provide my hosts with lots of interesting travel stories, experiences, and simple Japanese cuisine. If you live near the sea and have access to fresh fish, you can try sashimi (raw fish) or sushi!

I have experience with organic farming in Japan, so if you are a farmer or are thinking of starting a vegetable patch at home, I might be able to give you some advice if you could show me your field.
