About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Getting through each day. I'm working on becoming a teacher and trying to find myself again.

ABOUT ME

I believe the best way to experience a new place is to immerse yourself as much as you can. Though I do sometimes like visiting some of the more touristy places. I just love to dance, be it partner dancing - like salsa, swing, bachata, blues, etc. - or tearing up the floor at a club or bar (or sometimes even in the middle of the grocery store!). Whenever I visit a new place, I try to find the local community.

Lately I have been really getting into gardening and landscaping my backyard to be an awesome place to relax in at the end of the day. My two cats are always around when I'm working in the backyard, making sure I'm doing everything right (haha).

I'm currently working on my master's in elementary education at UNM here in Albuquerque. I've been student teaching in a fourth grade class for the past year. Basically that's fancy talk for volunteer teaching in a classroom for a long time.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that you shouldn't stop yourself from doing something you want just because no one else is willing to do it with you. As said in one of my favorite movies: "Things you're scared of are usually the most worthwhile."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try and meet people for coffee as much as I can. In Albuquerque I am more than happy to show people around the city and help them experience more than just the tourist attractions. I cannot offer a couch right now, but I hope to meet people for coffee or something instead.

I would be even more happy to take you out dancing!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had nothing but a AMAZING experiences with CouchSurfing. The amazing hospitality and welcomeness I felt on my first two stays on "couches" were just so great. I am so very excited to show others the kindness and friendliness I have felt through the connections I have made through this website.

Interests

I really like swing dancing and I am trying to get back into salsa dancing. For those who swing, my favorite types are BLUES, jitterbug and lindy hop (in that order). Let me tell you, ESPECIALLY those who have never blues danced before, there is something about dancing with your eyes closed and truely feeling the rhythm of the music late at night that just makes you want more.

As for things other than dancing, I have been obsessed with all kinds of mythology from many places. However, my heart lies with the stories from ancient Greece. I also like taking pictures and drawing profiles (from the pictures I have taken).

Last, but not least(!), I have a confession...I am a closet adrenaline junkie. I have bungee jumped and paraglided, but that is only the beginning. It all started when I went to Costa Rica to save sea turtles and had the opportunity to bungee jump off a bridge towards a little ravine as the sky sprinkled rain and mist was pouring out from the trees nearby. Now, I think of new ways to get that adrenaline rush. My next goal: skydive.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently I am loving books that are based in a historical setting (like Revolution-Era France) and tell the story of a common person living through it. Great examples of this are the books "To Dance with Kings" by Rosalind Laker or "The Queen's Fool" by Phillipa Gregory.

Teach, Learn, Share

Though I may not be able to teach you blues dancing or swing myself, I have friends who can help me teach you!
