CURRENT MISSION
Recent college grad. What now?
ABOUT ME
The first thing my friends would say is that I'm a southern kid. Being from Louisiana and college in RI, it sort of stands out. Next they would tell you about how I'm always busy during the week, running from meeting to meeting, class to class. Then they would mention all the camping trips I go on over the weekends.
After all that is out of the way, they might talk about all the fun times we share when I am free. Providence was quite the (small) city, so we explored it whenever we can. Sometimes we explored the night-life but mostly we tried to get out into the city and state for beach time, running, WaterFire, India Point park, etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My friend told me about it and his success in London, thought I would check it out.
兴趣
Camping and backpacking have been pretty high on my list of things to do in college. I recently went with a bunch of Brown Univ. students, but I have mostly been involved with a program that takes high school students camping, which is always a unique and crazy experience for them and the mentors who take them. Being from Louisiana, I generally am always attracted to the outdoors. The weather in the Northeast, and especially Providence, can be limiting, but I still try and get out as much as possible.
Beyond extracurriculars and social time there is class time. Academics have been a large part of my time at Brown since I discovered Anthropology. It is a fascinating field that gives you knowledge to talk about a broad range of topics but still keeps you grounded in the good things in life, like family and friends.
Last, I much mention my interest in food. My grandmother raised me on a true Cajun diet. While my life-expectancy may be limited by the high calorie and cholesterol intake of the seasonings, I still appreciate a good, Cajun, home-cooked meal more than ever.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情
National Youth Science Camp... Yes, I did a science camp, but it wasn't an ordinary science camp. This camp has a rigorous application process and is all expenses paid. It involves a 1 month adventure in the rolling hills of West Virginia--no cell phone coverage. This month, the summer before I got to Brown, was the most eye-opening experience I've ever had. We had 2 science lectures a day, which were interesting but, honestly, boring. The best part was the camping, backpacking, and outdoor experiences there. This experience piqued my interest in the outdoors, which you can see from above. I also gained friends from this program all around the nation and world (2 delegates from each state + other countries). While my abroad experience is limited (to nothing), I definitely gained an incredible amount of thrill for adventure from this "science camp."
While there are other moments, I will leave it at the one above to highlight its importance in changing/reconstructing how I look at and appreciate nature, the environment, and experiencing new places with others.
