"To be able to look back upon one's life in satisfaction, is to live twice."
- Khalil Gibran
My wife Angie (https://www.couchsurfing.com/users/2987812/profile) and I are dipping our toes back into Couchsurfing, and are eager to meet some futurefriends. Will we get along? Good question, but I can't ask you because I'm an About Me box. So please take the time to look through my profile, and figure out if we have at least enough in common to enjoy hanging out together.
Me? I'm easy-going, grateful, down-to-earth, and some other adjectives. I'm an import to the U.S.A. from Vancouver, Canada, to be with my beautiful and amazing wife, Angie, and our buddy-cat Pickle. We married in Portland, Oregon in 2013, and then moved to New Orleans a year later so I could pursue a teaching job.
Currently I'm engaged in the most challenging period of life I've lived so far: I'm a first year 12th Grade English teacher at a High School in New Orleans. It is utterly exhausting, but I will do my absolute best to bring home some energy.
We live in an apartment in an area called Midcity, just blocks away from City Park. It's a great neighborhood with nearby restaurants, bars, parks, grocery stores, and the rest of New Orleans is very accessible. There's a futon and possibly an air bed that we can put in our living room, and you can likely have the room to yourself.
I've loved hosting in past years, as it's made for some awesome lasting friendships with people all over the world. My wife and I will try to spend time with you, but since we'll likely be at least a little busy with life, it's appreciated if you bring a certain level of independence as a surfer/traveler.
Good times guaranteed!*

I'm interested in starting a eclectic cupboard for cooking. I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd bring a small amount of a herb or spice that is local to where you're from. Maybe we can cook something together with it!
In the SUBJECT LINE of your Couchrequest, tell me WHICH HERB OR SPICE YOU COULD BRING
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've surfed with a few great hosts during a roadtrip across the U.S.A. and back through Canada in Summer 2011.
On the homefront, I've hosted about 35 people since the beginning of 2010, and have had nothing but AWESOME experiences. Also, I was involved with the local Couchsurfing community in Vancouver, and attended events and meetups pretty often.
Traveling (a given), Cooking, Music, Hockey, Permaculture, Green Tech, the Tiny House movement, Reading, Debate, Shaking mah buns, Bears (the animal ;) ), etc etc etc you get the gist

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1. Seeing little recently hatched Leatherback Turtles flip their way down the beach to the ocean at a protected hatchery in Gandoca, Costa Rica.
2. Skinny dipped off the wall in Dubrovnik, Croatia
3. Witnessed the first ever Canadian gold medal on home soil during the Vancouver 2010 Olympics, when Alexandre Bilodeau won the men's moguls on Cypress, beating out (dickhead) Dale Begg-Smith.

I'm an English teacher by trade, so I will be annoyingly eager to correct your English if you want me to. I also speak some French and Spanish, and would be happy to practice both.
