About Me

Yeah, so...

I usually have a hard time with About sections or any fill-able field of the sort, so bear with me.

Who am I, you ask. Well. By day, I'm a dentist; by night, I'm an educator; on the weekends and holidays, I'm an intrepid traveler, both in the physical and imaginary worlds; and in my head, I'm a kick-ass superhero with a bright, red cape and epic tales to tell.

I'm a pretentious bibliophile, a flighty list-maker and a reluctant hipster.

I like to wander and wonder. I try to befriend animals in their natural habitat, make funny faces at random kids in the street and I'm conducting an ever-changing survey on inane randoms. I also collect hobbies, stories and secrets.

Aaaaand...I'm all out of droll ramblings for now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've read a book about it ages ago. 2009, or so couchsurfing.com says. I thought it was a neat idea at the time then went and got myself a profile, cause...why not, right?

I've always been afflicted with wanderlust, but I never really got the chance to use this here website and it ended up forgotten and dusty on a virtual shelf in a dark imaginary corner.

And there it stayed until recently. What changed, you might ask. Well. I went and booked a flight on a whim, thus taking my first shaky step into the realm of vagabondia that has long been nothing but hopeful some-day's. Et voila!

On the other hand, while I unfortunately have no space to host, I'd be willing to take you out for a beverage, hot or otherwise. If you contact me sufficiently beforehand and if my grown-up duties permit, it would be my pleasure to show you around. Heck, if it's a weekend we might even manage a little out-of-town adventure. The world is our oyster! Except, ya know, less slimy.

Music, Movies, and Books

Another section I dislike. It's like asking a parent to pick out their favorite child. That said, I'm always open to recommendations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'd like to say jumped from a plane, but....oh well.

I did fly in a manner of speaking, though. Suspended between a parachute and a fast little boat counts, no?

I had a few little adventures here and there as well.

I peeped on a glamorous fish, once. She looked like the fish version of an old Hollywood star with vivid red lipstick. I held both the world's tiniest fish and the world's tiniest crab in my hands. I pedaled a small boat in the midst of a tiny pod of playful dolphins.

I've hiked up an active volcano while it drizzled, I've hiked up a sacred mountain guided by the moon. I've wandered around a forgotten stretch of desert where prehistoric whales once swam and I've gotten lost in strange cities where skyscrapers soared and friendly stray cats roamed.

I've spent nights of luxury in 5 star resorts and slept others in dingy hostels where I was feasted upon by a family of evidently hungry mosquitoes. But best of all were the nights I spent under the night sky, watching stories unfold among the clouds and counting shooting stars while wondering about all the wishes people made as they fell.

I've ridden on planes, trains, cars, boats, rickshaws, tuk-tuks and horse-drawn carts.

But...I haven't skydived yet.

Teach, Learn, Share

Dorks like to learn anything and everything that seems cool enough.

This dork speaks two languages and is willing to help people practice.

As stated above: hobbies, stories and secrets.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I bear useless knick-knacks upon arrival. I also offer witty repertoire and my most charming company, of course.

I'd offer to cook you a meal as well, but I cannot guarantee it being edible.

Countries I’ve Visited

India, Indonesia, Kenya, Lebanon, Malaysia, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan

Countries I’ve Lived In
