About Me

Just returned home from a year of travel. Is it too soon to leave again?

LOVE meeting new people and making new friends. Experiencing different cultures and seeing other points of view. St. Augustine said (I think) that life is a book and those who never travel only read one page. I want to read that book cover to cover!

I've done a lot of thinking recently. Here's a little of what I've come up with:

1. At the end of life, nobody ever wishes they'd watched more TV. So I sold my TV :)

2.At the end of life, most people don't wish they'd worked longer hours at a job they didn't love. So I quit the job I didn't love and became my own boss :)

3.At the end of life, most people don't wish they'd spent less time traveling the world and seeing new places and meeting new people. So I decided to take a year off and travel the world and see new places and meet new people :)

The common theme: When my time here is finished, I don't want to look back on my experience with regret for the way I lived my one and only life on this Earth. This is no dress rehearsal!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hosted 5 people when I lived in the states. Kind of a "pay it forward" type of thing. Every single experience was great! I loved opening my house up to people and meeting new friends. Now, I have started a one-year, round-the-world trip and will look for interesting, real, thoughtful people to connect with while I am on the road. I can't wait to meet all the people I will encounter along the way!!!

Have had an awesome time hosting:
Jean from France
Marcin from Poland
Laura and Matt from UK
Aurelie from France
Asha from Colorado
Marta from Poland
Adrienne from NSW, Australia
Ruben & Miriam from Catalonia

I have had the pleasure of staying with:
Justin in Sydney, NSW
Laura in Sydney, NSW
Adrienne in Silverdale, NSW
Sarah, Jess & Carla in Brissy
Matt & Liz in South Australia
Aurelie in France
Marta in Poland
Each experience has been great :)

Traveling (oh, really?), Reading, Science (it amazes me), Society, Politics (I bet I don't agree with you), Economics, Backpacking (the outdoorsy kind), Language (making half-assed efforts to learn new ones), Family (will be an uncle for the 5th time on Nov 6), Friends, Fitness (that's 3 F's in a row)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode my bike from Bordeaux to Northern Poland
Climbed to the top of Half Dome
Spent a week in Havana (if you're not American, that probably doesn't sound too impressive!)
Ran out onto the field during Giants game at AT&T Park. (again, with the American thing)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help you with your English (if you want). Maybe I can help you appreciate your own city from a fresh, new perspective- from the eyes of someone who is experiencing it for the first time. That is always one of my favorite things when I host.
