Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far, I have only been able to participate in the surfing end of this relationship. However, I hope to return the favor to surfers in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

While they have been limited in number, I have had very positive experiences couch surfing. I have always felt welcomed and have never felt as if I were intruding. The first experience was a little nerve wrecking, but after that it has been smooth sailing. Such a great way to meet people and see what a place really has to offer through the advice and graciousness of locals. All of my surfing experience was had in New Zealand.

Interests

Volleyball (and most other sports), tramping, swimming in the ocean, going for walks (even in the rain), staying in shape, learning new cooking techniques, trying new beers, and of course meeting new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm always looking for new music, as I listen to just about every genre of music, and am open even to those I don't. While "rock" is my ideal category, any band or artist that writes their own music and plays their own instruments has my respect.

I enjoy movies that make me think, ponder about life, or at least feel invested in the characters. Ideally all of the above.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Skydive over Lake Taupo, NZ
- Taupo Bungy over the Waikato River, NZ
- Milford Sound cruise, and all of Fiordland National Park, NZ
- Walking on Franz Josef glacier, and being the first person to climb through a newly formed ice cave, NZ
- Kayaking Abel Tasman National Park, NZ

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to play volleyball, and would love to share my knowledge of the game through conversation or (preferably) through playing. It's not just a sport; it's a lifestyle.

I can speak basic Italain and very basic ASL, and would love the opportunity to teach what I know and learn what I don't. I'd love to learn Spanish too.

Before injuring my finger, I played guitar. I am still trying to play, though I may try and switch to lefty guitar due to the injury. Regardless, I'd love to exchange knowledge or teach a bit of guitar.
