About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Spread compassion and understanding all over the world

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
If you request to stay at my place please give me a reason why you're requesting me. What do we have in common, what can we learn fro each other, etc. I know it takes time and energy to send out requests. If you're in a desperate situation and can't afford a hotel that's a perfectly good reason in my book. Thanks.

ABOUT ME

I study flora and fauna everywhere I go. I love the natural world and all of its complexity. I like to cook and can whip up some mean dishes. I'm drawn to travelling and thus dedicate a lot of my time to figuring out how to do it long term. For the past 6 years I've been on the road searching out the best in humanity and giving all I can to liberate people from the mundanity of modernity. I've spent some time volunteering at bike collectives, food co-ops, and other community oriented places.

I like to be cryptic and this often leads to obscure puns that leave me laughing by myself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to offer my place up to anyone travelling, because the idea of rent perturbs me. Food should be free and an accommodating shelter should be available to anyone. Also, I love foreigners and meeting travelling folk.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Female friend and I stayed with Marc James in Montreal, Quebec.
Traveled with a buddy over the summer of '08 and stayed in Boise, ID, in Olympia, WA, and Portland, OR. Everyone was great and accommodating, especially in Olympia.
Galpal and I went to Costa Rica and stayed with a gentleman in Plantanillo, and his accommodations were, well, very accommodating.
My comrade Tommasina and I have CSed in: Boulder, CO; Amarillo, TX; San Francisco, CA; New Orleans, LA; Gainesville, FL; Washington, DC; New York City; Mobile, AL; Berlin, Karlsruhe, and Heidelberg, Germany; New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pondicherry, and Kolkata, India; Bangkok, Pai, chaing Mai, Thailand; singapore, Singapore; Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, gore, new Zealand; and Los Angeles, ca.

Interests

Cycling, hiking, camping, climbing, appreciating nature; not exploiting it. I love to read, and I like film as well. Visiting animal sanctuaries, eco villages, permaculture farms, etc. I've wwoofed and helpx'd in 10 different countries now.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love it all, but mostly I read books and watch documentaries for knowledge. Sometimes I use media for entertainment solely.

I thoroughly enjoy I heart Huckabees!, Melvin Goes to Dinner, Detroit Rock City, 10 Things I Hate About You, Strange Brew, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Saved!, Bongwater, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and many other films. I also enjoy Sir David Attenborough documentaries, such as Life of Mammals, Life in the Undergrowth, and Blue Planet. I also heard there is this awesome new one called 'Planet Earth'.

Books: Perks of Being a Wallflower, Ishmael and My Ishmael, 1984, Brave New World and other dystopian lit, as well as anthropological books and books on evolution and biology.

Music: I like it all. I like all kinds of genres involving violin, accordion, and brass instruments. Squirrel Nut Zippers, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Alpha Blondy, Bach, Beethoven, David Bowie, Dead Prez, Elton John, Eyrkah Badu, Grand Buffet, Sage Francis, Johnny Cash, Journey, Kraftwerk, Led Zeppelin, The Mars Volta, Miles Davis, Of Montreal, Outkast, Queen, Tenacious D.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got an intestinal something or other in Haiti and lost 7 kilos in a fortnight. Survived two hurricanes while living in huts/tents. One in India, the other in Haiti. I've been to the southern most city in the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn and I love to teach. Cheers to that!
Sharing is caring.

I'm full of esoteric knowledge, but I aslo have some vegan culinary skills and bicycle maintenance skills.

I love teaching or aswering inquiries. I think 'knowledge' should never be commodified.
