ABOUT ME

Normally I put some witty b.s. here since it feels awkward to talk about oneself. But in the interest of you potentially entrusting me with your valuables, here’s some background:

I’m currently living in Philadelphia, PA (originally from Atlanta, GA) where I recently completed my Masters of Fine Art at Tyler School of Art. My area of concentration was photography, but I’m an interdisciplinary artist to the core and commonly work in painting, drawing, video, sound, sculpture and/or installation. My childhood revolved around music so I’ve been playing and songwriting for as long as I can remember (yet for whatever reason have never performed for anyone).

I’ve traveled to quite a few countries so far--loved every minute of it--and have been to every one of the 48 states (at least technically). I’m a pretty independent traveler so you don’t have to worry about me expecting you to show me around (unless you want to). That said, I’m always up for company or meeting up at points if you have the time. I prefer hosting self-reliant people that work the same way.

I’m great for random conversations and a laugh, and hope you are as well.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to the site, but definitely want to make more use of it! Please excuse my lack of references, etc. as I always previously surfed through friends/word-of-mouth--all without the aid of a sanctioned website such as this. Now, if you would, please help me start putting this thing to use.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It all started in high school, when I participated in 2 international exchange programs, 2 years in a row, both as a guest and as a host. That experience basically changed everything. Since then i've vowed to meet as many people and places as possible...

One late night in Osaka, having missed the last train, I found myself sleeping in a subway station alongside bums, wasted businessmen, and broke college students--all together in a strange, perfect harmony. And it was beautiful.
Though, in retrospect... had I known about this website, that all could have been so different.

I know a lot about photo, both technical and conceptual, and about various mediums of painting.

I studied Japanese for 3 years but haven't used it much for 5, so I've forgotten quite a lot. Perhaps some of you could refresh me?

I play guitar, drums, and bass and am classically trained on piano and trumpet (tho i rarely play those two these days). I love learning new, obscure instruments, so if you have any, let me know!
