Overview
About Me
I'm from Debrecen (nowadays living in Budapest), Hungary, the country where goulash soup, palinka, rubik's cube and the most beautiful girls come from. I did my studies in Finance MSc and CEMS Masters' in International Management, and I've worked as a venture capitalist for the last 6 years (invested in many interesting startups and been a board member in nearly 30 of them).
I consider myself a friendly, open-minded, always cheerful person who likes to meet new people and make valuable friendships. I love exploring new places, and as coming from a small town, I'm a really big fan of big cities; I'd love to live in London, NYC and Singapore or Hong Kong one day. I like doing sports (especially running, I will run my 5th marathon in Switzerland soon), bikes, guitars, music of any kind, people, beer, food, being outdoors, good conversations, concerts, languages, etc.
What about "religion"? Well, I think "All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood."
I also agree with the logical truth of Stephen Hawking, who says “life would be tragic if it weren’t funny” and with Bud Spencer "who finds a friend, finds a treasure!" :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I registered on the site in 2016 after my friend told me about his great experiences with CS and I was very excited to take part. Back then, I was quite active, we traveled across the UK, visited 16 cities, and only used CS. It was an amazing experience, but I haven't used it for a while. Now it's time to start again :)
Mostly, I used to sleep in hostels or at friends (who I know well) when I was on travel. I think this new type of travelling gives you deeper and more realistic experience wherever you go. You don't only meet the locals who share their thoughts, but I believe this way I can even make friends with them as well. I hope I can have great CS experiences in the future.

Music, Movies, and Books
From dance to hard rock, from classical to modern electronic, the spectrum is quite wide in music for me. Mostly, it depends on my mood and the situation what I'm listening to.
If you add me on Facebook, you can check my favourite films, as I listed more than 50. I usually like real and meaningful stories, but sometimes just need a very exciting action movie or an adventurous or funny one. Some of my favourite actors are Jim Carry, Mr. Bean and Will Ferrell as I like to laugh on their infantile and idiot things. I also like Di Caprio films, Monty Python, LotR, StarWars, Snatch, Bucket List, Rocky, Home Alone, etc. :D
I like to read non-fiction books about personal development and my professional interests (I know it sounds boring), but JRR Tolkien and P. Howard (Rejtő Jenő) also wrote some favourites of mine.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Need to be updated, but here is a previous one :)
✈ UK Trip: 16 cities in three weeks in the UK and Ireland, 2016
In the Summer of 2013, I decided to go to work in the UK. I spent nearly 2 months in Broadstairs, at a local language school as an assistant for the teachers and met 600-900 children every week. I travelled with them to London, Cambridge, Oxford, Brighton, Margate and many other beautiful places in England. I stayed with "my English family" and also made lots of friends. Overall, I think that was one of the best and most interesting period in my life... one amazing experience. :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you a lot of things about startups and venture capital, or how to solve the rubik's cube, how to prepare for a marathon, how to cook some delicious Hungarian foods, etc. I also know some card tricks and can share a lot of interesting stories with you.
Someone said about me:
"Balazs can count by twos and tie his shoes. He knows lots of games and all of their rules." :D
