Figuring out what to do next year
I just came back from living in Venezuela for a year where I taught German at a school in Caracas. I'm studying in the UK at the moment and trying to travel as much as possible at the end of term. I'm really eager to learn new things and try to have an open mind for everything. My enthusiasm for enterprises such as finding my way, singing, dancing and organizing things is dwarfed by my almost complete lack of talent for these things - but nonetheless existent.
The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills and the Pattern provides what is needed.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I like to meet like-minded people everywhere I go and walk, talk and come up with crazy things to do
I've crashed on lots of couches/chairs/floors of complete strangers everywhere I've traveled and it's been really amazing every time - Couchsurfing is tincredible.
I'm mostly into languages and history, but I'm interested in more or less everything except possibly gardening and knitting patterns
Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite directors are Haneke, Kubrick, Fassbinder, Park Chan-wook... I love noir, horror and watch films like Das weisse Band, Come and See, Import/Export, Double Indemnity, Oldboy and Amores Perros again and again...
Books... Too many of those! I love The Eye of the World, The Dark Tower (I used to be really into fantasy and never quite got over it), The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Siddhartha, everything by James Clavell, Gerald Durrell, Marquez, Stephen King, George Orwell. I also read a lot of history and philosophy these days
My favorite TV series are The Wire, Twin Peaks, Peep Show, Black Books, Keeping up Appearances, Homeland, Generation Kill, Mad Men, Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, Girls is pretty good too
I can listen to anything from jazz or Beethoven to ska, punk, black, death and thrash metal and I love moshing. But live music is just generally awesome.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitchhiking across Europe to collect a pair of jeans I'd left in Berlin, taking part in the 2014 protests in Venezuela, jumping in an icy lake in Germany to prove I have iron kidneys, cutting off most of my skirt in a club in Madrid so I could dance salsa, changing Bulgarian law, working as a projectionist in a cinema and as a bartender in 4 different countries..
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm good at two things - languages and getting into trouble - and I'd be more than happy to share my skills.
