About Me

CURRENT MISSION
In Cancún, Mexico - brief two-week-holiday with my two-year-old and my brother-in-law (:

Well well… Now being a mum…. Crazy! Our little one is now 2 years old already... How time flies!

****

Started my job as a teacher at a Montessori school and happy about it!

Perú 2019:
Having enjoyed life in Lima as a student for 5 months :) or actually, it was more travelling than studying, but that's ok I guess, as it was my very last semester, a treat so to say... ;)

Estaba estudiando en hermosa Lima para un ciclo (5 meses) :) y aprovechando mucho de la posibilidad de viajar mucho, conocer a nueva gente y mejorando mi español…

ABOUT ME

My greatest passion is probably travelling to faraway countries as well as exploring my surroundings and along the way meeting up with interesting people, philosophising about life and listening + dancing to music (Electro/Minimal/Andean Sounds, but also Cumbia, Huayno, UK indie rock, 60s + 70s, live music in general).

This German saying fits perfectly to my way of experiencing life: Der Weg ist das Ziel (~The route is the goal.)
So getting around the globe, experiencing its many cultures, languages and people. If this was a profession I'd embrace it immediately! :D

What I do (as this defines a person best): I love to be creative (paint, take photos, write), always learn new things, read, ride my bicycle, go hiking, go rock climbing (also bouldering indoors), speaking, reading and listening to beautiful Spanish and British English, hang out with friends, drink good Bavarian Weißbier, walk around the city, watch films and series (if I find the time), go to concerts and just be around and happy or sad (both are important! ;) )...
Anyways, I believe that being (generally) happy is a life style everyone can choose!! Which is also because I actually did an additional one-year training to become a "Glückslehrerin" / "Teacher of Happiness" ("Glück" or "Happiness" is actually a subject taught in several schools in Bavaria...)
----- To explain what this "Glücksausbildung" (=training of happiness) exactly is, a brief overview: On the one hand, I taught children about emotions, relationships, self-love, life goals, overcoming obstacles, staying positive, communicating in a caring and direct way and so on, once a week for a school year and, on the other hand, during that year I had 12 intense weekends of practising all of that with myself and the group (we were 15 in total!!) - a really demanding, but beautiful experience I wouldn't want to miss!!!

PHILOSOPHY

Try LIVING BY THE EXAMPLE and always be aware of the things happening around you in the very moment and being curious about and open to whatever comes along your way. Be respectful and understanding towards your surrounding and yourself and, most importantly, always be grateful for the things you have in your life and remind yourself how lucky you are every day (especially in our golden times....)! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

From my early years on I learned to be open-minded and interested in the world's beauty - for which I am very grateful to my parents. We often hosted guests at home and I have always been a traveller since I was a little girl. Also, I lived in shared flats most of the times until I met my husband.
We're living close to my home town Munich for now and we would love to host from time to time. ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first couchsurfing experience was in Valencia (in 2012), but also before that I've always practiced the lovely act of crushing on a friend's couch as I just loved waking up and making breakfast together or just talking and drinking a coffee, or something. I guess that's because my parents always had an open, welcoming home with lots of guests! :D

Interests

* music + dancing.
* meeting up with lovely people.
* philosophising about life.
So I'd say these are the three main passions out of an elusive range of interests. :D

my biggest wish:
that there's more financial (!! because, in the end, it's all about money in this world - how sad!!) equality in the world which of course is a bit of a utopia, as the world is not just (eventually, I'm a realist) and I accept that I can only do little change in my small surroundings, i.e. how I behave, how I talk, how I react and what I share and teach, for example.. So that's exactly what I'm trying to do! (:

Music, Movies, and Books

music: old stuff (like The Doors, Canned Heat, Pink Floyd..) -- indie (also alternative rock), also psychodelic aaaaand elektro/MINIMAL (if it has a nice beat, why not. ^^)- other genres (Bavarian folk music), too! ... just to name some favs: tame impala, nicola cruz, ratatat, friska viljor, dicht+ergreifend, black rebel motorcycle club :D

films+series (mostly independent): kingsmen, brick. napoleon dynamite. snatch. the prestige. easy rider. memento. was nützt die liebe in gedanken. tiger+dragon. juno. the lord of the rings. two days in paris. the dreamers. never let me go. barfuss. keinohrhasen. cashback. der baader meinhof komplex. burn after reading. chain of fools. wilde. OH WELL AND QUITE A FEW MORE. ^^

books: game of thrones (I'm still waiting for the last two books.....!!!!), the accidental, uncle tom's cabin, die räuber, faust, the lord of the rings, the celestine prophecy, ken follet's books and admittedly also an embracer of harry potter ^^

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

hm. that's a difficult one - I guess being courageous by talking openly about the fact that I've done a psychotherapy over four years and recommending it - to everyone I feel has a need in that direction.. ...which is actually everybody - Everybody should have looked at their own past and reflected about it!! ... always acknowledging the fact that I am extremely lucky to live in a country like Germany where this is seen as a medical treatment being paid for by the health insurance, if there are good reasons, of course, as was in my case having a brother with a cochlea implant...)
I feel it's so important to understand yourself and the reasons behind your actions (about which we clearly almost never reflect deeply enough in our daily lives).... Reflection, acceptance and change are closely linked. And when you and your parents and grandparents and so on are, sadly enough, so unfortunate in not having learned how to best treat oneself and others - a psychotherapy (talking, only) is definitely one of the best instruments!
Also, in my case, I have to add to this that it also helped me a lot to look on the bright side of life, through the "Glücksausbildung" (as explained earlier on), because a psychotherapy is probably always very strenuous and hard (continuously looking on the dark sides of your past..)!

Teach, Learn, Share

INTERCULTURAL EXCHANGE is the most beautiful thing on Earth! We can learn so much from each other!! And yes, I'm convinced on this from the bottom of my heart - as for example my husband is also from another country. ;) It's all about learning to appreciate and value difference and growing by it aaand getting rid of old ideologies you inherited from your parents like prejudices..

It's just really lovely to arrive to a country and get to know it by locals, and not only from a tourist perspective!!!!! :) So that's why I simply LOVE this project of CS so much!!

I also want to share and recommend (- as all is about SHARING + CARING):
WWOOFing = world-wide working on organic farms which I did in Bavaria, Austria and Peru (or "Workaway", which I haven't done myself so far..), which are also great to experience this intercultural exchange!!! Do try it out!

One more thing: living and studying abroad (as I have in Spain and Peru) - if you get the chance to do something like that: JUST DO IT!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can definitely show you around the city of Munich (only prerequisite: I will have to find the time! ....and this year is a hard one: working full time with a toddler).. ;)

So just let me know what you're interested in doing/seeing/trying out... and yup, do convince me, that it's absolutely fun, enriching and beautiful to spend time with you and that we exchange our minds and I'm definitely up for it!! :D
