About Me

After hosting more than 15 travelers, I’d like to set a few rules to help me choose friends I’d truly enjoy hosting again.

A.I’ll say no to travelers who only say “thanks a lot” but make no effort to show it in action. I don’t charge for my help or accommodation, but I truly believe that if someone is genuinely grateful, they’ll find a way to express it. That’s the kind of person I am—and the kind I’d like to host.

B.This is Shenzhen—not Hong Kong, and not Guangzhou. About 30% of the requests I get are invalid because of basic misunderstandings about location. It shows that some travelers don’t pay enough attention to my profile. Hosting requires more effort from hoster than guest. If you aren’t willing to spend even one minute reading my profile, how can I expect you to respect my help or me ?

C.For more than half of the travelers I’ve hosted, I could tell their main reason for contacting me was financial—they were more interested in the free room than in me as a person. That goes against Couchsurfing’s values, but I can accept it. Still, I stick to Rule #1. In my opinion, everyone can find a way to show gratitude—even if I were a beggar, I’d do the same.

D.I won’t reply to any copy-pasted requests. I understand many members can’t reply in time, and availability isn’t always accurate—so the chance of getting a bed isn’t high. I don’t blame those members, but I still prefer receiving personalized requests. It’s a simple way to help build a better Couchsurfing community.
E.I truly enjoy meeting authentic travelers—those who are fully capable of achieving their travel dreams on their own, but who reach out to me in order to enrich their experience and have a genuine conversation.

For any future requests, I hope you’ll start by using my name, explain why you’d like to meet me (not just for a place to stay), and share how you’d like to respond to my help.
